Supply Network Quality (SNQ) North America partners with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing and Operations to ensure supplier capability from sourcing through stable serial production while supporting flawless product launches across Volvo Trucks and Mack.
What you will do
The Manager – Supply Network Quality for Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics (CVD), BIW & Tanks provides strategic and operational leadership for one of the largest and most technically diverse commodity portfolios within SNQ North America.
This role exists to build a high-performing supplier quality organization capable of developing suppliers, ensuring manufacturing readiness, delivering flawless launches and driving continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle. The organization is intentionally aligned with the North America Purchasing commodity structure to strengthen cross-functional execution and supplier ownership.This position reports to the Director, Head of Supply Network Quality North America, and is based in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Mission
Lead a world-class Supplier Quality organization that develops people, strengthens supplier capability, drives manufacturing excellence and delivers flawless launches through proactive risk management, technical expertise and collaboration.
Leadership & People
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Supplier Quality Engineers and consultants.
- Create an engaged, accountable and high-performing organization.
- Drive talent development, succession planning and technical capability growth.
- Promote Volvo values, ethics and a zero-defect mindset.
Supplier Industrialization
- Lead supplier readiness from sourcing through APQP, Run-at-Rate and PPAP approval.
- Validate Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, MSA, capability studies and manufacturing readiness.
- Conduct supplier process audits, technical sourcing assessments and manufacturing feasibility reviews.
- Develop suppliers through structured improvement plans and manufacturing maturity assessments.
Launch Excellence
- Ensure flawless product launches through proactive governance and risk management.
- Partner with Purchasing, Engineering and Manufacturing to remove launch risks early.
- Lead supplier escalation, recovery plans and crisis management activities.
- Drive achievement of launch milestones and serial production readiness.
Operational Excellence
- Monitor and improve QDCFTSR performance across the supplier portfolio.
- Deploy Volvo SNQ standards, digital tools and best practices.
- Use data and KPIs to prioritize actions and drive continuous improvement.
- Represent SNQ in executive reviews and cross-functional governance forums.
Who are you?
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of experience in Supplier Quality, Supplier Development, Manufacturing Engineering or Production Operations.
- 3+ years of leadership experience through direct people management or functional leadership.
- Hands-on expertise in APQP, PPAP, AIAG Core Tools, supplier audits, structured problem solving and launch readiness.
- Strong communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with chassis systems, steering, suspension, braking, BIW, structural assemblies or fuel tanks.
- Knowledge of stamping, robotic welding, hydroforming, tube forming, machining, coatings, leak testing and automated assembly.
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and Lean Manufacturing.
- Lean Six Sigma, CQE or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience in the commercial vehicle or automotive industry.
