What you will do

As an Automation Analyst Intern, you will gain hands-on experience delivering automation solutions that improve business processes across VFS North America. Working alongside experienced business analysts, developers, and automation engineers, you will learn how automation projects move from an idea to a completed solution. You'll work with business stakeholders to understand their needs, help design and develop automation solutions, test and validate your work, and document the final solution for deployment and ongoing support.

During your internship, you will have the opportunity to lead one or more automation initiatives under the guidance of experienced mentors, giving you real-world experience working directly with business stakeholders and technical teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand current processes, identify automation opportunities, and document business and functional requirements.

  • Analyze business processes and data to identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and operational efficiency.

  • Design, develop, test, and document automation solutions using Microsoft Power Platform technologies, including Power Automate and Power Apps, while gaining exposure to technologies such as UiPath, Azure AI, and other enterprise automation platforms.

  • Develop automation scripts, integrations, and supporting utilities using low-code and traditional programming languages such as Python and C# when appropriate.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams using modern software development practices and tools.

  • Create project documentation, process flows, technical documentation, user guides, and implementation plans to support successful solution delivery.

  • Assist in planning project activities, developing timelines, tracking progress, identifying risks, and communicating project status under the guidance of experienced team members.

  • Perform solution testing, validation, troubleshooting, and deployment activities to ensure automation solutions meet business and technical requirements.

  • Present project updates, demonstrations, and final solutions to business stakeholders and technical leadership.

  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve business processes, development practices, and automation methodologies while learning emerging technologies and industry best practices.

Who are you?

  • You have a passion for automation and enjoy solving business problems through technology.
  • You have experience developing software, automations, or technical solutions through coursework, personal projects, hackathons, research, or previous internships.
  • You have experience with one or more programming or scripting languages such as Python, C#, JavaScript, PowerShell, or SQL, and are interested in expanding your technical skill set.
  • You are interested in low-code and enterprise automation platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps and Power Automate), UiPath, Azure AI, or similar technologies.
  • You enjoy working directly with people to understand their challenges and translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
  • You are organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high-quality work.
  • You are naturally curious, enjoy learning new technologies, and continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and solutions.
  • You communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and enjoy collaborating with technical and business teams.
  • Experience working with Agile methodologies or project management tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or Trello is a plus, but not required.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in and pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or a related technical discipline at an accredited institution and have completed at least 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.
  • Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.
