About this Role
We are currently looking for a student to work at our Greensboro North America Office as an Internal Communications Intern for (SML) Service Market Logistics, NA. The student should be prepared to gain experience and knowledge in various aspects of internal communication.
The Internal Communications Intern will provide support to SML NA communication efforts. This role will assist with key administrative tasks including meeting material preparation, internal communication channel publishing, and employee engagement programs. While primarily supporting the Regional Distribution Centers, this position will also contribute to select initiatives across the SML NA network.
Our goal is to contribute to the student development, as well as providing an opportunity for the student to work in a business environment within the Service Market Logistic (SML) industry. This position will report to the Communications Director, SML NA.

Minimum Education and Program Requirements:
• Applicants must be currently enrolled in academic courses and pursuing a degree in Communications or Marketing at an accredited school and must have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship.
• Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75/4.0
• Interns can work up to 30 hours per week during the fall internship period.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• This intern will be based in Greensboro, NC.

What You Will Do
Content Support
• Assist in drafting, editing, and proofreading internal messages, announcements, newsletters, and digital screen (eBoard) content.
• Help create visual or multimedia content to support internal campaigns (e.g., photos, short videos, graphics).
Channel Management
• Upload and update content on internal platforms such as digital TVs, SharePoint, and email distribution lists.
• Monitor communication boards and displays around sites to ensure content is timely and relevant.
Onboarding & Welcome Kits
• Assemble and prepare welcome packages kits and messaging.
• Help coordinate onboarding-related materials and communication touchpoints.
• Support execution of employee recognition programs including continuous improvement awards in partnership with VPS.
Event & Meeting Support
• Assist in preparing materials and logistics for internal events such as town halls, site visits, team celebrations, and communication campaigns.
• Support visitor hosting by preparing signage, welcome materials, and coordination tasks.
Campaign Assistance
• Help deliver internal engagement campaigns around safety, values, diversity, health & wellness, or community events.
• Collect feedback or engagement metrics when applicable (e.g., surveys, QR code responses).
Administrative Tasks
• Maintain distribution lists.
• Support file organization, content calendars, and tracking logs for communication activities
Professional Objectives
• Weekly Writing Assignments: Brief written summaries of the learning experiences and project updates will be required.
• Project Presentations: Formal project presentations will be required to be presented to peers, management, and senior leaders within the organization.
• Performance Feedback: Throughout the entire experience, the manager will provide verbal and written feedback on work performance. At the end of the internship, each intern will be given a formal written evaluation based on their work performance.

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $16.00 - $46.00.The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
