What you will be doing
As an Industrial Designer Intern, you`ll support the Volvo Group Design team building a roadmap of future exterior design layouts/features/functions aligned with company objectives and industry trends, secure the technical feasibility and user experience standards of Volvo Group Design concepts and deliverables are valid. You will also identify and propose solutions to conflicts between feature requirements and technical feasibility, while securing that the Product Message and Brand Distinction is followed.
Responsibilities:
- 
Assist in developing future exterior design concepts for commercial trucks, considering aesthetics, aerodynamics, ergonomics, and manufacturability. 
- 
Conduct research on customer needs, market trends, and emerging technologies within the trucking and automotive industries. 
- 
Create and refine 2D sketches, renderings, and 3D digital models to communicate design ideas effectively. 
- 
Support the design team in building and iterating on exterior styling proposals using tools such as Blender, Alias, or similar CAD/3D modeling software. 
- 
Participate in design reviews and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, marketing, and manufacturing. 
- 
Help develop physical and digital prototypes to visualize and validate design concepts 
- 
Contribute to defining timelines and design milestones for upcoming projects. 
- 
Demonstrate a strong understanding of brand identity, design language, and the unique functional requirements of trucks. 
Who You Are
You are an Industrial Designer student that is prepared to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment, gaining experience and knowledge in various aspects of engineering (or mechanical, electrical, software, design, production, etc.). As a valued member of the engineering team within GTT, you will have the opportunity to work directly with the engineers in the department. GTT’s values collaboration and life-long learning and our goal is to contribute to your development while providing you an opportunity to work in a business environment within the manufacturing industry. Required:
- Must be enrolled and pursuing a BFA degree in Industrial Design at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies.
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.
