What you will be doing
As an Intern you will be supporting the Volvo Trucks Design team, building a roadmap of future interior design layouts/features/functions. You will secure the technical feasibility and validity of future concepts and propose / introduce new technical solutions driven by a passion for customer needs and sustainability. You will also be able to identify and propose solutions to conflicts between feature requirements and technical feasibility, as well as secure that the product message and brand distinction is followed.
Responsibilities:
• Support the Chief Designer Interior in pursuing advanced interior layouts through research, sketching, CAD, VR and other digital tools.
• Work closely with the Materials Science intern to collaborate and strengthen concepts.
• Participate in Group Designs development process.
• Bring a strong aesthetic aligned with the premium Volvo brand as well as the unique application of trucks.
• Support / assist in the development and construction of 3D digital models.
• Propose near-term feasible solutions as well as far-reaching transportation solutions focused on interior design.
Essential Skills:
• Must be highly skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, etc.) and Alias
• Knowledge of the following a plus: Gravity Sketch, Procreate, Unreal, Blender
• Problem solving on a high level
• Eager/positive attitude and willingness to adapt design themes based on critique

Requirements:
• Applicant must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Industrial/Transportation Design at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship.
• Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.
• This internship will require up to 40 hours per week during the Summer 2025 semester. Interns will be expected to spend their internship time working in the office.

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $16.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
