Intern: Java Developer (Summer 2026)

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assist in migrating legacy Java applications to modern Java platforms.
  • Building UI Components using Angular  
  • Participate in refactoring and optimizing existing codebases to improve maintainability, performance, and security.
  • Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities within legacy applications.
  • Collaborate with senior developers to implement best practices in secure coding and software design.
  • Develop and integrate unit and integration tests to establish code coverage for certification applications.
  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing to support long-term application sustainability.

Skills and Knowledge

We are looking for a student with a “maker” personality and entrepreneurial spirit, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Software Engineering or related fields. We expect these internship students to be self-motivated, curious and bold as well as passion for learning new tech stacks. We are exploring new possibilities in highly uncertain areas where requirement specifications and well-defined processes are often unavailable.  

  • Programing Skills in Java, Angular or similar Languages
  • Basic understanding of Software testing frameworks (e.g. Junit, TestNG)
  • Desire to learn and be part of a cross-functional team
  • Strong initiative-taking and follow-through skills, strong ownership, and sense of responsibility
  • Ability to operate effectively and proactively in a highly creative and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Good documentation, communication and presentation skills 
  • Motivation to solve real-world problems 
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken 

Minimum Education and Experience

•    Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75

•    Applicants must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Computer Science or similar degree at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship

•    Summer interns may work up to 40 hours per week

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
