Business Office (BO) North America is a team of experienced leaders based in Volvo Group NA Head Quarters offices located in Greensboro, NC. We have responsibility for Industrial Strategy & Investments in our Operations including our Cab & Vehicle Assembly (CVA) factories for Volvo and Mack Trucks. We are involved in leading complex, cross -functional Industrial Investigations, driving NA trade compliance for Volvo Grp in NA, ensuring our industrial strategy is aligned with the global product strategy, digital transformation projects. We lead and collaborate with teams and functions throughout the entire value chain for the Group – technology, operations, supply chain, sales, and digital & IT.
BO is structured within the NA Manufacturing Engineering Organization under Global Truck Operations (GTO) division.
This position will be based in Greensboro, NC, and report directly to the Director of Business Office Conventional Range.
Role Description/Responsibilities:
The Industrial PM part of your responsibility includes:
- Assists experienced Managers in the ME Business Office in Portfolio Management, project timelines, and industrial business case development
- Performs Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering tasks using established procedures
- Initial phase of training and development within area of assignment
- Proficient use of equipment, instrumentation and software/hardware used within area of assignment
- Entry level performance issues with task-oriented, less complicated assignments Miscellaneous Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering assignments as training and abilities progress
- Assist in Problem solving and root cause analysis for critical issues within manufacturing processes
- Support assignments related to Trade compliance roadmap and develop dashboards
Critical Competencies:
- Attention to Detail: Monitoring adherence to standards and actively checking for accuracy of data received or generated before passing it on
- Communication: Listening effectively, transmitting information accurately and understandably, and actively seeking feedback non-defensively
- Data Visualization and analysis: Should be well versed with different statistical analysis tools and Power Tools
- Lean Manufacturing principles and tools : Continuous improvement, Kaizens etc
- Dependability/Reliability: Following through on commitments, producing timely work to required -- or higher -- standards, pitching in to get the job done
- Flexibility: Performing a wide range of tasks, responding to changes in direction and priorities, and accepting new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments
Who are you?
- Applicants must be enrolled and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business or engineering at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies prior to the start of the internship.
- Applicants pursuing a M.S. degree is strongly preferred.
- Prior work or internship experience is a plus
- Spring interns may work up to 30 hours per week
- Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75
- Strong leadership skills & ability to work autonomously
- Ability to travel locally, regionally, and internationally as needed
- Excellent interpersonal, coordination, and written and verbal communication skills

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
