Mission/Purpose of the Position:
The Project Management Intern will be proactive and detail-oriented. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in logistics operations, project coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives within a global transportation leader. The intern will support key projects that enhance supply chain efficiency, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
Scope & Influence
The Project Management Intern is part of the SML NA Strategy, Development & Analytics team and will report directly to the Director of Strategy, Development & Analytics. The position is located in Greensboro, NC.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in planning and executing logistics and supply chain projects across North America.
- Support project documentation, including timelines, status reports, and stakeholder communications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, IT, and customer service.
- Help identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to solution development.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, and data analysis to support project goals.
- Track KPIs and performance metrics related to logistics and service delivery.
- Contribute to sustainability and innovation initiatives aligned with Volvo Group values.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong interest in logistics, transportation, and project management.
- Applicants should be interested in pursuing a professional career in Logistics/Supply Chain Management.
- Applicants must have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.
- Spring interns may work up to 30 hours per week.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, or Power BI) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required.

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
