Intern: Supplier Crisis & Risk Management (Summer 2026)

The Supplier Crisis & Risk Management intern role within Trucks Technology & Industrial provides engineering students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment. The Supply Network Resiliency & Capacity department ensures that Group Trucks North America (GTNA) maintains performance, deliveries, capacity, and flexibility throughout the supply chain. This includes developing suppliers across all product lifecycle phases, from production to aftermarket, and working with the Supply Partner Development Team on continuous improvement initiatives to secure deliveries to Volvo Group production and aftermarket sites.

This internship will be based onsite at our Greensboro, NC location, and will run from May 11th - August 7th, 2026. Interns may be eligible for a monthly housing stipend under certain circumstances.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Actively engage with Volvo/Mack suppliers and supply chains
  • Monitor high risk supplier development issues to prevent crisis at our Volvo operations
  • Analyze supplier capacity and supplier investment requests
  • Accurately assess suppliers’ weaknesses and provide solutions
  • Drive and develop supplier problem solving techniques for identified supplier fault issues
  • Drive supplier operational excellence
  • Work in accordance with the Trucks Technology & Industrial processes, the Code of Conduct, and the Volvo Way

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering. Your degree must be at an accredited school and you need to have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.
  • Must be classified as either a Junior, Senior, or Graduate Student at the start of your internship
  • Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher
  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status
  • Summer Interns may work up to 40 hours per week and must be enrolled as a student

What We Are Looking For

  • Organized and agile in your way of working, with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Team-player focused
  • Developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Experience with Power Bi and Power Automate is a plus

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $17.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
