About the Role

The internship role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment, and to support/promote their career goals through contact with professionals in their field of study. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Logistics through working on important and innovative projects that build experience in project and supply chain management, finance, supplier quality and negotiation. Soft skills, high energy and a positive mindset are key assets for succeeding in this position, across a diverse, multicultural team.
What's your role in the team?
As a student or graduate, you’ll gain hands-on experience by working on exciting supply chain projects that make a real difference to our transport operations. You’ll use project management skills and data analytics to support smart, fact-based decisions—while learning directly from experienced project leaders.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop digital and automation solutions that improve everyday processes, giving you practical exposure to tools and methods used in modern supply chains. Throughout the internship, you’ll work closely with Logistics Engineers, Data Analysts, and Value Chain Engineers, learning how theory from your studies is applied in real-world scenario.
You will participate in forums involving external stakeholders and aiding to create a healthy feedback environment for our team. It is crucial we fully synchronize our expectations and deliverables along the value chain therefore; effective communication is your main tool to truly understand how well we do our piece.
What you will do
• Learn and assist Value Stream Mapping activities across various supply chain projects
• Support the creation and maintenance of transport maps for all North American transport flows
• Help identify and plan Value Stream Mapping needs across the North American region
• Learn and apply Lean principles and process optimization techniques
• Analyze key supply chain components such as carriers, transport setups, and spend
• Participate in internal and external team meetings, gaining exposure to cross-functional collaboration
• Research and benchmark emerging technologies—internally and externally—that support process improvements and cost optimization at Volvo.
Who are you?
• You are currently pursuing a degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field. Your degree must be at an accredited school, and you need to have completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.
• Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher
• Summer Interns may work up to 40 hours per week and must be enrolled as a student

• A self-motivated attitude, with the confidence to take initiative and ownership of tasks
• Problem-solving skills and an interest in improving processes through data and analysis
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Access is a plus)
• Experience with or interest in data visualization tools such as Power BI or Qlik Sense
