About the role

As a UX/UI Design Intern, you will be an integral part of a dynamic global team, working closely with Project Managers, Designers, Developers, and leadership to craft engaging, user-centered digital experiences for the Volvo Group. You will contribute to the design and development of innovative marketing solutions and customer-facing platforms, fostering a creative environment that values inclusion, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Your role will support the creation of intuitive interfaces, compelling visual elements, and seamless user journeys that enhance our digital presence.

You will collaborate with stakeholders from our eCommerce and digital teams to ensure the delivery of visually appealing and user-friendly solutions that align with business goals and brand standards.

This position will report to the System Analysis US Chapter, supporting Commercial Solutions NA for Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America.

Who are you?

  • Passionate about creating engaging and user-friendly digital experiences.
  • Basic knowledge of Web Design, UI/UX principles, and visual design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch).
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and eager to learn new design techniques.
  • Empathetic and able to understand user needs and behaviors.
  • Organized and able to communicate ideas clearly through sketches, wireframes, and presentations.
  • Ownership-driven with a proactive attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be enrolled in a degree program related to Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a similar field at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.
  • Spring interns may work up to 30 hours per week.
  • Preferred candidate will have availability from January 2026 – May 2026.

WILL BE AN ASSET

  • Problem Solving Skills
  • Experience with UI/UX design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for front-end development.
  • Understanding of user research, usability testing, and accessibility standards.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools to inform design decisions.
  • Ability to interpret user data and translate insights into compelling visual solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and adaptation skills.
  • Data Visualization Skills

Position Description

  • Assist in designing user interfaces for Volvo’s customer-facing websites, ensuring a modern, accessible, and engaging look and feel.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and visual mockups to illustrate design concepts and user flows.
  • Contribute to crafting a comprehensive Digital Customer Experience Strategy that aligns with business goals and user needs.
  • Conduct research to uncover insights, validate user experiences, and inform design decisions through user interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and refine UI elements, including layouts, calls-to-action, headlines, and imagery, to optimize customer engagement and conversion.
  • Support the development of a consistent design language across digital platforms, streamlining visual communication.
  • Contribute to driving design-led principles in projects, emphasizing human-centered design and user empathy throughout the development process.
  • Support the enhancement of internal Salesforce platforms by designing intuitive dashboards and user interfaces based on stakeholder feedback.
  • Participate in user testing sessions to gather feedback on prototypes and refine designs accordingly.
  • Work closely with developers, stakeholders, and users to ensure designs are implemented accurately and effectively.
