What you will do

Help us shape the future of transportation at Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America. In this role, you’ll lead the planning, creation, and delivery of clear, engaging, and strategic communications for our more than 3,000 colleagues. Your work will help employees understand where we’re headed as a company and how we’ll get there.

 

In this role, you’ll help build understanding of our strategies, performance, opportunities, challenges, and values—and strengthen connections with our more than 3,000 colleagues. We’re looking for someone who can apply sound judgment and editorial thinking, and who can take an idea or process and translate it into clean, tight, informative, and impactful content—no matter the platform (written, spoken, infographic, video, or PowerPoint deck). This role works closely with members of the 12-person Corporate Communications department, colleagues at Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America, and teams across Volvo Group North America. The role reports to the Director of Internal Communications.

Along with this mindset, you’ll bring a foundation that includes:
•    At least five years of communications experience.
•    A bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field.
•    Experience managing a content calendar and using content management systems.
•    Ability to learn quickly, process ideas, and turn them into compelling graphics, internal news articles, and PowerPoint presentations.
•    Ability to advise executives and tailor messages to a specific audience or channel.
•    Experience managing projects across multiple platforms and formats.
•    Ability to analyze engagement metrics and use insights to shape coverage.
•    Ability to make decisions with incomplete information and act on opportunities.
•    Experience working in multicultural and multi-brand environments.
•    Familiarity with visual storytelling tools.

 

Must-have competencies include:
•    Excellent planning, project management and organizational skills.
•    Strong editorial judgment, decision-making, and storytelling skills.
•    Audience-focused thinking.
•    Experience with content management systems, including intranets and digital information boards.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft 365, especially PowerPoint, with a strong design eye, while working within brand guidelines.
•    Familiarity with AP style.
•    Ability to write quickly, tightly, clearly and impactfully.
•    A focus on delivering high-quality work.
•    Effective cross team collaboration.
•    Ability to question the status quo and offer smart solutions.
•    A strong communicator and relationship builder.

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $96,000.00 - $118,500.00 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
