What you will do

The Lead People & Culture Business Partner (PCBP) provides strategic P&C partnership to Global Functions and specialty business areas within Volvo Group North America (VGNA). This role influences organizational effectiveness by building strong relationships with senior leaders and delivering practical, forward-looking people solutions aligned to the business strategy and VGNA’s culture of inclusion, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The People & Culture Partner brings the people perspective into business decisions, serving as a trusted advisor to leaders and teams. The role provides coaching and guidance across core P&C practices (including employee relations, leadership development, and health, safety, and wellbeing), helps leaders build high-performing teams, and improves the employee experience. The PCBP also promotes effective use of digital/self-service solutions to connect employees and leaders to the right resources and support channels.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build a deep understanding of business strategy to anticipate organizational needs and shape a positive employee experience.
  • Partner with leaders to translate People Strategy into clear, tailored action plans for the business
  • Advise on complex people and organizational topics, helping leaders address strategic dilemmas with balanced, practical solutions.
  • Use people analytics to support workforce planning, skills forecasting, and short-, mid-, and long-term decision making.
  • Identify, assess, and develop next-generation leaders and critical talent.
  • Drive capability and competence shifts through a growth mindset, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning.
  • Contribute to organizational design and development to improve effectiveness, clarity, and speed of execution.
  • Increase organizational agility by embedding new ways of working and enabling teams to adapt to change.
  • Lead and support change initiatives aligned to business objectives, advocating for the people side of change.
  • Coach leaders to model desired behaviors aligned to Volvo values and Leadership Principles.
  • Translate workforce insights into recommendations that proactively guide business decisions.
  • Interpret root causes behind key metrics and propose organizational development initiatives to deliver desired outcomes.
  • Monitor external trends and assess their impact on the workforce to shape timely business recommendations.
  • Strengthen employee experience and engagement, ensuring Volvo remains an attractive and competitive place to work.
  • Navigate VGNA P&C services and solutions end-to-end, engaging specialists as needed to address business needs.
  • Lead and execute day-to-day P&C activities, including labor/employment law, wellbeing, health & safety, compensation & benefits, and sustainability-related people topics.

Who are you?

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 5-10 years of progressive HR generalist experience (business partner experience preferred).
  • Professional HR certification (PHR, SPHR, or GPHR) preferred.
  • Demonstrated coaching and consultative skills with leaders at multiple levels.
  • Proven track record of proactive leadership, sound judgment, and creative problem solving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. employment law and HR best practices.
  • Strong conflict resolution and employee relations capabilities, with a focus on fair and timely outcomes.
  • High integrity, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $111,100 - $137,200 $0.00 - $0.00 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
