What you will do
As a Data Architect, your mission is to define and design secure, adaptable data environments for data management and analytics. You will ensure that all authorized end users have easy and convenient access to high-quality, consistent data. You will work closely with product delivery teams, providing architectural leadership and support throughout the entire data management lifecycle. As an experienced professional, you will interact with multiple stakeholders, delivering the right architecture for their data solutions. Your expertise spans data modeling, data transformation, and the deployment of data management and analytical services—including reporting, analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data quality, master data management, and data provisioning.
Key Responsibilities
· Define, design, and take responsibility for end-to-end scalable data architecture from the definition phase to go-live, aligned with enterprise architecture and industry standards to deliver data-driven business value.
· Collaborate closely with internal teams—including compliance, privacy, risk, information security, platform support, and operations—to ensure all business requirements are considered in the design process.
· Participate in the development of architectures, strategies, and policies around data, including data governance, master data management, metadata management, data quality, and data security.
· Provide technical leadership and advocate for data capabilities according to the Volvo target architecture.
· Define scalable and reusable standards and frameworks for the data area.
· Perform and lead data analysis activities, including data profiling, data quality assessment, data transformation rules, and integration requirements. Develop, document, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models that accurately reflect the existing environment and promote reuse when applicable.
· Communicate Volvo data services to functional partners across multiple levels of the organization, both internal and external.
· Oversee the full data lifecycle and provide guidance and direction to development teams—including reuse, design, documentation, validation, and continuous improvement of deliveries.
· Serve as the go-to person for a domain of expertise across Mack and VTNA
· Impact strategy, technology, and ways of working in the domain for multiple teams, departments, and functions.
· Create or contribute to the vision for the overall direction of the domain, helping to define standards and good practices throughout Digital & IT.
· Act as an expert, mentor, and/or teacher on topics connected to the domain across the Digital & IT community.
· Represent Digital & IT by contributing to external expert networks, forums, and groups.
· Be recognized as an expert in your area within the Digital & IT community.
· Continuously improve productivity for colleagues; set a positive example for quality and responsibility; spread knowledge of critical practices; help define hiring standards and practices.
· Create innovative solutions to boost ways of working and learning in the community.
· Work closely with multiple teams and their stakeholders (e.g., DPOs, DPAOs, DPMs) to ensure deliverables fit requirements; balance doing it right with getting it done; remain resilient to changes in priorities.
· Maintain focus on important, high-value efforts.
· Actively participate in community life.

· Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field
