What you will do
Volvo Service Market Logistics North America (NA) is a part of SML and has about 1,000 employees across the United States, Canada and Mexico. We operate the Central Distribution Center in Byhalia, MS as well as Regional Distribution Centers across the NA region.
Content and purpose of the job
The Site Communications Manager will support the day-to-day business and promote understanding and alignment to the overall vision and strategies as well as the implementation of corporate initiatives and processes at the Corporate Uptime Center and Regional Distribution Centers. The role will also support North American and Global communications initiatives and projects.
Scope and influence
Responsible for leading the communications function at the Corporate Uptime Center and Regional Distribution Centers. The role reports directly to the Communications Director for North America and is a participant in global communications networks.
Key responsibilities/Accountabilities
• Deliver measurable management/employee cohesion through proactive and consistent stakeholder communications
• Strengthen and grow a strong local culture based on Volvo Group values in partnership with all levels of site leadership.
• Take a proactive communications advisory role towards all levels of local leadership
• Provide expert guidance on issues related to change management
• Lead local communicative leadership training and development activities
• Coordinate, implement, and support a site communication plan in alignment with the site Director and regional and global communications strategies
• Drive proactive employee engagement activities for all employee groups and levels across the site and be the lead advisor to employee driven engagement and event committees
• Generate local internal communication using a variety of channels (i.e. eBoards, newsletters, etc.) and measure effectiveness
• Support the regional and global extended communications networks with local input, task implementation, and content generation
• Responsible for coordinating and leading site visits with key internal (i.e. company executives) and external stakeholders (i.e. customers, dealers, etc.)
• Plan and execute key events such as: employee townhalls, dialogue sessions, or internal conferences
• Drive site adherence to all facets of Volvo Group brand and identity guidelines
• Deliver proactive partnerships and CSR initiatives through community relations
Key targets and results
• Global and regional business and communications strategies, including annual strategic planning initiatives, are developed and implemented at a site level as part of the annual site strategy plan and in collaboration with global initiatives.
• Global, regional, and site messages are communicated in a consistent, measured, and locally relevant way
• The development of a strong local company culture based on Volvo Group values, evidenced at all levels of site leadership.
Who are you?
Key competences, knowledge and experience
• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a direct communications role. Experience within an industrial environment (i.e. distribution center, manufacturing plant, etc.) preferred
• The ability to work with and communicate to different audience types in creative ways
• A strong capacity and track record in building a company culture
• Exemplary verbal and non-verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Experience in communications coaching and consulting
• Familiarity using measurement tactics for identifying the success of communications activities
• Proficiency with the Adobe Design Suite and video production/editing is preferred
