Retail Credit Analyst

What you will do

Part of a dynamic, fast paced, critical team at VFS you support VFS dealers and customers in the truck, construction, and bus industries.  You develop relationships with key dealership personnel and VFS sales channel leaders daily.  You work closely with these individuals to underwrite, negotiate, structure, and provide credit approvals and financing solutions to meet customer needs. You adjudicate deals from single unit up to multi-million-dollar transactions. You will help support VFS dealers and customers as we collectively move forward with EMobility financing solutions across the various transportation segments supported by the Volvo Group.

What is the job?
You are the face and voice of VFS to our dealers and an important part of the success of the Retail Team and our dealer network.  Working directly with key dealership personnel and VFS sales teams to support new credit requests, negotiate existing open approvals, provide alternate financing solutions or structures and to support general dealer inquires.  You build trust with both our dealers and our sales teams and become a trusted advisor.  

 

Daily Focus
Supporting the delivery of Volvo equipment. Your deals will mainly require review of credit bureau information, Paynet, and other reference points to assess a transaction and make a credit decision. Based on experience and time, you will have delegated authority to quickly decision deals, which can include single unit transactions (<100K) or multiple million-dollar transactions.

 

Some deals may require you to negotiate directly with dealers or the sales teams to modify a submitted transaction.  You touch all facets of a deal, including down payment, terms, and guarantor requirements. You provide collateral analysis, determine document requirements, insurance needs, and UCC/PMSI requirements to perfect VFS security and minimize risk.

 

Responsibilities
Generally, most transactions will not require the spreading of financial statements, but you will need to understand how to spread statements.  You will use your written and communication skills to provide concise analysis of risk/mitigants of a request to Retail Credit Management and review all relevant information to Know Your Customer and complete OFAC compliance.  Certain transactions may require you to meet directly with customers and some occasional travel may be needed. 

 

In some cases, you will be part of a post-mortem process to provide insights on your own deals and those of your peers. These insights will help ensure continuity and provide opportunities for improvement and efficiency. 

 

In all cases, you will adhere to The Volvo Way, Code of Conduct and defined policy requirements.  You will continuously look to gain industry knowledge, learn, and support process changes and improvements in the Retail Credit department.   

Who are you?

You preferably hold a BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Finance or another related field, or equivalent experience. You will bring experience in loan or lease in retail or commercial underwriting, banking fields, portfolio asset management or formal credit/risk management training/coursework (ideally 5 or more years).  This experience has come in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and you should be experienced in analyzing and reviewing personal credit bureau reports, commercial business reports and other reference sources. Ideally, you have experience spreading financial statements, understand key financial statements and have experience working with multiple sales channels or credit officers. Communication is critical to success in this role, and you bring fluency in reading, writing and speaking English to the role. The ability to communicate in additional language(s) a plus! Your team works in Microsoft Office 365 tools, including Teams, at an intermediate level or higher, and you do too.
