What you will do
As Section Manager for Chassis Engineering, you will lead an organization of 60+ highly skilled and passionate engineers organized in 4 engineering groups. You will be responsible for the development and installation of a wide array of components and systems in our vehicles. For instance, you will take full product ownership from strategies to maintenance for all chassis structures, engine and cab suspensions, EV energy storage system installation, chassis equipment, transport adaptation, and complete powertrain installations for both diesel and electric vehicles.
As a Section Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Leading, coaching and developing front-line engineering managers in your section
- Setting strategies for the section to sustain a long-term competitive advantage
- Developing work force plans and securing adequate competences for current and future needs
- Driving continuous improvement plan and fostering innovative thinking
- Taking product ownership for the modules/functions in your scope and leading the execution of roadmaps
- Delivering projects on time with right quality and according to budget
- Supporting technical decisions on component & system level with global and cross-functional network
- Developing interfaces towards other functions to support project deliveries and make daily operation more efficient
- Contributing to strategic decision-making as a member of the Chassis Engineering leadership team
In this position, you will report to the Chief Engineer and take an active part in the leadership team to contribute to the overall development of the department.

Our team, Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics Engineering, develops components, systems, and complete chassis solutions for diesel, electric and autonomous vehicles for Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks to support the North American market.

You actively encourage strong communication amongst your team and have a passion for developing people as well as technology. Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronic or Mechanical engineering, or related field. Master’s Degree is highly preferred
- Min. 12+ years of experience in Product Development within the automotive industry
- Leadership experience as a manager with direct reports is a must. Leading leaders experience is an advantage
- Experience in project management of large projects, specifically in an agile environment, is an advantage
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of the market and applications
- Strategic thinking and business-focused, seeing ahead to future possibilities and translating them into purposeful actions
- Proven experience in building effective teams, maximizing each person’s contribution to achieving common goals
- Effective communicator, able to provide a clear message and use compelling arguments to gain commitment
- Accountable and resilient with ability to drive cross-functional and global network and overcome roadblocks
