What you will do
This Senior Commodity/Project Buyer is accountable for the Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Features (QDCF) of suppliers for regular production, in addition to serving as the interface towards suppliers for project work, within the assigned Thermal Management segment. You will be responsible for making sure that the segment business plan is implemented through the selection of the right suppliers, and by continuously securing supplier QDCF performance by using the tools and purchasing/cross-functional network during production and after production for Revenue segments.
This position will be based out of our Greensboro, the regional headquarter location, and will report to the Head of Electromechanical Purchasing, North America.
Main areas of responsibility:
- Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in improved supply chain performance, enhanced product quality, innovative technology, and maximum value
- Drive negotiations and executive agreements with suppliers within the assigned Thermal Management segment (which includes components such as Air Conditioning, Heaters, Radiators & Fans and other associated parts)
- Be responsible for sourcing activities in project phase with support of other Buyers and Group Manager
- Contribute to segment business plan and be an active member in the global network of Buyers
- Collaborate with other members of the global supply chain to successfully develop and execute global supply chain and technology strategies
- Use Volvo Performance System (VPS) toolbox to drive efficiency across the supply chain
- Drive all relevant activities to deliver on Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Features targets (QDCF) for both current production and projects
- Monitor, identify, and mitigate risks in cooperation with the Supply Network Quality (SNQ) and Supply Network Resiliency (SNR) teams
- Monitor and analyze supplier capacity to proactively eliminate potential plant impacts and aftermarket part shortages
- Forecast cost evolution for scope of responsibility
- Manage and negotiate product/processes changes during project and production phase, and after production phase for Revenue segments
- Perform daily purchasing activities related to production orders, logistics, and financial flows to the suppliers

Requirements:
- Baehclor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent working experience)
- 6+ years of strategic purchasing (e.g. end-to-end supplier relationship management, sourcing, negotiations, contracts), business development (client relationship management, negotiations, etc.)
