What you will do

 

We’re on a mission to unlock new growth opportunities for Volvo Autonomous Solutions. As the Senior Service Program Engineer and Asset Planning Manager, you will lead the development and execution of service support programs and play a critical role in planning and managing the US highway assets for the truck fleet supporting our US highway autonomous transport business. As we scale our operations across the United States, you will ensure fleet supply and demand to support the business growth plans and continued expansion.

 

You will play a key role in both service contract development and operational planning. You will create scalable service contracts, develop technical training programs, and manage cross-functional initiatives that ensure operational excellence and customer success throughout the lifecycle of autonomous vehicle deployments.

In parallel, you will act as the primary interface with internal and external stakeholders involved in the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process by managing vehicle demand, long-term planning and forecasting, ordering, order tracking, and ensuring the vehicle availability required to support Volvo Autonomous Solutions’ US Highway business and operational plans.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

Service Contract Development

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of service and maintenance contract offerings for the V.A.S. fleet.
  • Define service-level agreements (SLAs), preventive maintenance strategies, and uptime commitments.
  • Evaluate fleet operational data to continuously improve service offerings and support models.

Technical Training Programs

  • Develop and manage comprehensive technical training programs for customers, field service technicians, operations personnel, and partner organizations.
  • Create training curricula, certification requirements, operational procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure training programs support the safe and efficient operation of autonomous vehicle technologies.
  • Establish performance metrics to evaluate training effectiveness and workforce readiness.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert during customer onboarding and deployment activities.
  • Support major customer accounts by identifying service optimization opportunities.

Sales and Operations Planning

  • Manage the (S&OP) process for US Highway vehicle demand and asset requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, communicate, and manage vehicle volume forecasts to support vehicle ordering and production planning.
  • Plan vehicle requirements in line with approved business plans and operational needs, with input from the V.A.S U. S Highway business team and the V.A.S. Product organization.
  • Initiate vehicle orders through established Volvo Group channels.
  • Coordinate with Volvo Autonomous Solutions parent company functions, Volvo Group entities, and relevant partners to support vehicle supply to the business.

You will represent Volvo Autonomous Solutions in relevant forums and drive alignment and advocacy for the entity's priorities and needs.

Key Interfaces

  • Collaborate with legal, commercial, operations, and engineering teams to develop customer-focused service solutions.
  • Coordinate with Volvo Group functions involved in the S&OP process.
  • Partner with the V.A.S. US Highway Business Development, Uptime, and Operations teams.
  • Engage with Volvo dealership
  • Align with Finance and Business Control.

You are a structured and collaborative professional with strong business acumen and a data-driven approach to decision-making. You enjoy working across functions, consolidating inputs from multiple stakeholders into clear plans and forecasts, and ensuring execution through the ordering and planning process.

 

You bring strong problem-solving skills, technical understanding, and a continuous improvement mindset. You are comfortable driving process development, influencing stakeholders across organizations, and balancing strategic objectives with operational execution.

 

Key Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in engineering, service operations, technical program management, or fleet support.
  • Experience developing service programs, maintenance strategies, or aftermarket support solutions.
  • Experience in Sales & Operations Planning, demand planning, asset planning, order management, supply chain, commercial operations, or related areas.
  • Strong project and program management capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred

  • Experience with autonomous vehicles, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), connected vehicles, robotics, or transportation technologies.
  • Knowledge of fleet operations, heavy-duty vehicles, commercial transportation, or equipment maintenance.
  • Experience developing technical training curricula and certification programs.
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering, predictive maintenance, and service analytics.
  • Experience working in customer-facing technical leadership roles.
  • Previous experience with Volvo tools such as VSS and ProBuilder is beneficial but not required.

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $128,300.00 - $158,400.00 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
