Sr. Commercial Business Control (FP&A) Analyst

What you will do

Reporting to the Director Business Control, the Sr Commercial Business Control (FP&A) Analyst will serve as a trusted advisor for the commercial channel, with a primary focus on enabling the execution of commercial strategy and priorities. This role goes beyond traditional planning and reporting to actively co‑drive strategy definition, translate priorities into measurable actions, and support execution that delivers profitable growth.


The analyst partners closely with commercial leaders to help establish strategic objectives, define success metrics, identify the highest‑impact initiatives, and track execution against those priorities. Data and analytics are used as enablers — not endpoints — to drive alignment, decision‑making, and action. Success in this role requires strong financial and business acumen and the ability to influence stakeholders through actionable insights to support their decision making.  

 

Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy Enablement & Performance
•    Partner with commercial leaders to develop and refine commercial strategy, translating strategic objectives into financial implications, priorities, and execution plans
•    Identify and focus the organization on the key drivers and initiatives that will have the greatest impact on growth and profitability
•    Develop and maintain customer, product, and portfolio profitability views to inform prioritization and trade off decisions
•    Support pricing, promotion, and go to market decisions by assessing impact, risks, and execution considerations
•    Track performance against strategic priorities and help drive corrective actions where execution is off track

 

Business Partnering & Decision Support
•    Act as a trusted thought partner to commercial and functional leaders, helping them move from strategy to action 
•    Translate VFS strategy into an actionable financial plan and strategic priorities for the commercial channel 
•    Enable effective decision-making by framing options and clarifying trade-offs across profitability, risk, and growth opportunities
•    Challenge assumptions constructively and help leaders understand implications across growth, profitability, and risk 
•    Translate complex analysis into clear priorities, decisions, and next steps, not just insights
•    Build financial understanding in the commercial channel by translating operational decisions into clear financial implications

 

Planning, Forecasting & Performance Management
•    Use planning and forecasting as tools to align the organization around strategic priorities and expected outcomes 
•    Help define and operationalize KPIs that matter, ensuring they drive focus, accountability, and execution 
•    Monitor performance against plan and strategic initiatives, highlighting execution risks and recommending course corrections 
•    Support target setting and incentive performance management to reinforce desired commercial behaviors

 

Analytics, Tools & Continuous Improvement
•    Develop dashboards, visualizations, and self service analytics that enable faster, better commercial decision making 
•    Improve data quality, transparency, and automation in commercial finance processes 
•    Collaborate with digitalization, data, and IT teams to enhance models, tools, and reporting capabilities 
•    Drive a culture of insight based decision making across the organization

Who are you?

Required Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Math, or a related field 
•    Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field 
•    Strong understanding of financial statements and their drivers
•    Strong financial modeling and analytical skills with the ability to link commercial actions to financial outcomes 
•    Advanced Excel skills; experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Qlik, Tableau) preferred 
•    Ability to communicate complex financial insights clearly to non finance stakeholders
•    Present financial implications clearly in cross-functional teams


Preferred Qualifications
•    Experience in a commercial, sales driven, or B2B environment
•    Experience analyzing profitability, pricing, or customer/product performance 
•    Exposure to pricing, deal structuring, or incentive compensation analysis
•    Experience with SQL, Python, DataBricks is a plus
•    Demonstrated ability to influence decisions without direct authority

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $83,500.00 - $103,100.00 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
