What You Will Be Doing

As the Supplier Crisis & Risk Leader for Group Trucks Purchasing (GTP) North America, you will be part of Crisis & Risk Management (CRM) team in the Supply Network Resiliency (SNR) group, managing supplier performance in terms of Quality, Delivery, Cost, Feature, Transformation, Sustainability, and Risk (QDCFTSR).

You will collaborate with supplier development engineers, buyers, and other functions to address low-performing suppliers affecting Volvo/Mack operations, providing technical assistance to resolve issues related to unhealthy production systems and resource shortages. The primary mission is to restore supplier health and enforce a zero-tolerance policy for impacts on Volvo operations or customer satisfaction, while also supporting resourcing away from troubled suppliers when necessary. You will foster collaboration between the Crisis & Risk Management team and other Group Trucks functions, leveraging global knowledge sharing within SNR.

The Crisis & Risk Management team ensures that Group Trucks North America (GTNA) maintains performance, deliveries, capacity, and flexibility throughout the supply chain. This includes developing suppliers across all product lifecycle phases, from production to aftermarket, and working with the Supply Partner Development Team on continuous improvement initiatives to secure deliveries to Volvo Group production and aftermarket sites.

As Supplier Crisis & Risk Leader, you are expected to support all activities that ensure a continuous flow of parts supply to our North America Plants. In addition, this role must also attempt to minimize costs to Volvo. During supplier development and technical assistance missions, the Supplier Crisis & Risk Leader must choose the right approach, depth, focus, techniques, and lessons learned, in order to properly address situations. Each supplier development opportunity may be unique.

This role is based out of Greensboro, NC and will report to the Head of Supply Network Resiliency North America.

This position has the following responsibilities:

  • Actively engage with Volvo/Mack suppliers and supply chains
  • Analyze supplier capacity and supplier investment requests
  • Accurately assess supplier weaknesses and provide solutions
  • Monitor high risk supplier development issues to prevent crisis at our Volvo operations
  • Drive and develop supplier problem solving techniques for identified supplier fault issues
  • Fix and develop supplier production systems and processes to prevent impact to Volvo operations
  • Drive supplier operational excellence
  • Set focused priorities to reach objectives
  • Work in accordance with the GTP processes, the Code of Conduct, and the Volvo Way
  • Represent GTP at suppliers and escalate as needed to prevent crisis at our Volvo operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree required. Major in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Management preferred
  • Experience in supplier quality and capacity, manufacturing engineering, supplier development, or crisis management, preferably from the automotive or heavy commercial truck industry
  • Flexibility and preparedness to travel with short notice
  • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status
