At Volvo Financial Services (VFS), we believe that relationships, hard work and technological innovation will lead the way into the future to keep our customers and employees connected, successful and moving forward.  As a Wholesale Credit Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting required credit reviews as well as monitoring a portfolio of dealers with annual revenues generally up to ~100M USD for the Wholesale Floorplan Inventory of United States based dealers. The position will serve as a development position for those aspiring to the Wholesale Portfolio Manager (Commercial Credit Underwriter) position.  

 

This position is part of VFS Wholesale Team and candidate will be located in United States, Greensboro, NC. The Wholesale Credit Analyst will report to the Manager, Wholesale Credit & Risk (MWCR).

 

How you will make an impact
As a Wholesale Credit Analyst, you will play a critical part in developing lasting relationships with key dealership personnel and VFS sales channels. You will also have organizational exposure opportunities as you present dealer portfolios during Portfolio Review and Credit Committee meetings. 
 

Scope

Your scope includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities and contributions:
• Underwrite (annual reviews and any for ad-hoc events) and monitor a portfolio of dealers using various systems, including SBS Wholesale Software (WFS), Risk Analyst (or similar), Quiktrak, Qlikview, Power BI, and others, including spreading financial statements.
• Ownership and knowledge of dealer relationship with Portfolio Manager and/or MWCR support regarding credit, audit and operations from time of initiation and onward.
• Provide analysis and recommend credit lines, lease line, audit frequency, deal structure, and other facets of dealer performance to Wholesale Management and progressively to various upward committee levels as experience increases.  
• Willingness to learn to underwrite working capital, term loans, and real estate transactions with assistance from Portfolio Manager and/or MWCR. 
• Daily management of assigned portfolio including inventory management, over line approvals, audit analysis, documentation review, security perfection review, reporting and customer service.
• Responsible for the timely credit underwriting, annual reviews, and dealer monitoring.
• Identify issues based on financial, audit, trending, or other factors and propose risk mitigation, audit frequency, and dealer monitoring based on risk.
• Understanding of security perfection including UCC, PMSI, subordinations, as well as basic knowledge of inter-creditor agreements. 
• In collaboration with Portfolio Manager and/or MWCR (and legal team where applicable), negotiate documents, security perfection, inter-creditors and subordinations.
• Participate and Learn from Portfolio Manager and/or MWCR during dealer collection activities; risk mitigations during SOT’s and/or financial distress situations, including onsite visits to dealers. 
• Proactively collaborate with Market Sales teams on dealer issues, as well as opportunities to increase wholesale penetration and/or balances for a dealer.
• Ensure compliance with any local regulatory requirements as well as Volvo Group and VFS internal requirements.
• Complete security perfection searches and all other applicable searches as required to successfully ensuring VFS collateral security perfection.
• Participates with Dealers, District Finance Managers (DFMs), Directors Regional Sales, Business Areas, and local market leaders, including in market visits, to develop a holistic approach to the dealer.
• Drive efficient operational turnaround protocols for dealer funding, payment application, document preparation, and other tasks. 
• Ensure accurate completion of credit and documentation files including establishing dealer files and performs necessary verifications.
• Helps train wholesale analysts on all aspects of operations
• Receives guidance and training from Portfolio Manager and/or MWCR
• Provide back up support for the Wholesale Analyst and Portfolio Manager activities. 
• Provide New Employee Training & Internal Employee cross training of WCoE activities.
• Have a change mindset of continuous improvements to minimize risk and improve underwriting quality
• Minimal travel       

Who are you?

You have a talent for credit analysis and relationship development, with 3 or more years of experience in wholesale, commercial loan or lease underwriting. You are a preferred candidate if your underwriting experience has been within the truck or heavy equipment industries. Through your previous work experience, you can demonstrate financial analysis aptitude including balance sheet, income statement, cash flow and projection analysis. We value formal education and welcome candidates with a BA or BS in business or a related field, but we also value the education gained on the job and will consider candidates with an equivalent level of previous work experience.

 

You demonstrate technical proficiency in Excel (pivot table, vlookup, other data analysis, charts, tables, etc), Power Point, Power BI, Teams and other Microsoft Office products. Previous experience in WFS is preferred but your future teammates are happy to share their expertise with the system and can bring a willing novice to pro quickly.


Your fluency in English is required and Spanish language skills are a plus. You also speak our language if you are fluent in EBITDA Cash Flow Coverage, Current Ratio, Leverage, Absorption, Tangible Net Worth and Inventory Trust Position. You also understand and can clearly communicate our needs as it relates to wholesale documentation requirements and security perfection.
