What you will do
As an E-Coat Production Supervisor, you will hold a very important role in the Kings Mountain Operations (KMO) facility. In this role, you will lead a skilled team within a complex production environment to ensure safety, quality, and operational excellence in the E-Coat area. You will drive World Class Manufacturing initiatives to continuously improve performance and customer satisfaction while collaborating closely with Safety, Quality, Engineering, and Logistics teams.
You will be responsible for developing and empowering team members through training, coaching, and performance management, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and bargaining agreements. By effectively managing resources, setting priorities, and maintaining open communication, you will foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Your leadership will be key to achieving departmental goals related to productivity, efficiency, and employee engagement while maintaining a safe and well-organized work environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Lead, coach, and develop E-Coat team members to achieve safety, quality, and production objectives.
• Ensure adherence to all company policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Maintain a safe work environment by promoting proper work practices, use of PPE, and compliance with all EHS standards.
• Plan, organize, and direct daily operations to meet production schedules, efficiency targets, and quality standards.
• Drive World Class Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with cross-functional departments, including Safety, Quality, Engineering, and Logistics, to resolve production issues and improve processes.
• Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.
• Manage resource allocation, staffing levels, and absentee coverage to ensure smooth production flow.
• Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and updates while maintaining transparent and open communication.
• Work with the Training Department to develop and execute training plans that ensure team members are properly trained, competent, and compliant with work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Enforce quality standards and ensure corrective actions are implemented to prevent rework and improve first-pass yield.
• Support leadership in achieving departmental goals related to productivity, cost, and operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting of production performance, attendance, training, and disciplinary actions as required.
• Promote a positive team culture that values accountability, respect, and continuous personal and professional development.
Who are you?
Required Qualifications (Education, Skills, & Experience):
• Associate degree in a technical or scientific field such as Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or Statistics.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a chemical or automotive manufacturing environment.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a production or technical environment.
• Strong data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze and interpret process metrics for improvement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage across multiple levels of the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement process efficiencies.
• Proven leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to achieve operational excellence.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
• Experience in E-Coat or surface treatment processes within an automotive manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of World Class Manufacturing or Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Experience using statistical process control (SPC) or other analytical quality tools.
• Strong understanding of safety, quality, and environmental standards related to chemical operations
