What you will do
Maintenance Supervisor, 4th Shift - 5am-5pm - Friday, Saturday, Sunday
As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will hold an important role in the Kings Mountain Operations facility. You will report directly to the Maintenance Manager. You will support the long term success of the Volvo Group and KMO by providing leadership. In addition, you will be supporting the short and mid-term activities for your function and the plant to meet maintenance objectives. You will be responsible for safety, quality, delivery, continuous improvement, environment, people development and cost of the maintenance process as well as cascading and involving your team members in the business objectives
Main activities and responsibilities for these roles
- Manage your Maintenance organization against set safety, quality, delivery and financial targets by leading and coaching your maintenance team.
- Continue the implementation of Volvo Production System (VPS), which means to implement standardized ways of working, develop the organization, and achieve contribution from all employees
- Full accountability and ownership of your team’s development, employee relations, project follow up, midterm road map (0-1 year) and policy deployment from plant to operator level.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Safety:
- Ensure a safe work environment and behaviors for all team members using a methodical approach to risk identification, mitigation and competence development
Leadership:
- Inspire your team to work together to reach set safety, quality, delivery and financial targets by leading and coaching your maintenance team. Deliver the agreed and committed overall objectives for the maintenance area of responsibility
- Strong drive to deliver and have the ability to continually develop and improve the organization and your team members
- Build autonomous teams, work with cross-functional networks and create trusting relationships
- Participate in the development of departmental objectives and targets. Ensure that the maintenance area objective(s) is clearly formulated and motivated to achieve the Group Trucks Operations Hagerstown business objectives and strategy.
- Ensure the availability of skilled resources and create a motivating environment to consistently improve upon the performance of the department and readily adapt to evolving demands
Communication:
- Inspire and influence through a communicative leadership style with your team and cross functional groups, with 2 way communication and high employee engagement. Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities, how they contribute to the total result and that they are recognized for performance
Behavior:
- Demonstrate and coach to Volvo’s Values (Customer Success, Trust, Passion, Change, Performance) and Code of Conduct
- Be an inspiring/inclusive leader and create a welcoming/diverse work environment
- Support overall company programs and policies.
People Development:
- Develop industrial workforce to secure competence
- Assess performance, competencies, and flexibility of employees within the department and initiate appropriate training, counseling, or corrective action to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the employees.
Who are you?
Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree and five (5) years’ management experience in a manufacturing environment OR seven years minimum combined education and leadership experience within a manufacturing environment
Preferred Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of SAP (payroll/time management system)
Necessary technical/functional/language skills
- Needs to have a good understanding of the Volvo Group Businesses
- As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required.
