About Us
As Maintenance Technician II, you will hold a very important role in the Kings Mountain Operations (KMO) facility. In this role, you will support safe, continuous production by performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant machinery, tools, and facility systems. This role ensures critical equipment and infrastructure remain in optimal operating condition through troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance. By reducing downtime and improving operational efficiency, the Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in meeting production targets and quality standards.
Duties/Responsibilities
• Performs mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repairs on production equipment to ensure optimal functionality and minimize downtime.
• Conducts routine preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on equipment, fixtures, and systems to support safe and continuous operations.
• Troubleshoots and repairs industrial automation systems, including interlocks, sensors, field wiring, and industrial control components to restore equipment performance.
• Collaborates with the Quality Assurance team to verify weld quality and adjust systems as needed to meet production standards.
• Installs and maintains hydraulic and pneumatic piping systems for automated processes in accordance with safety and design specifications.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and written instructions to fabricate or assemble components and perform equipment installations.
• Operates forklifts and material handling equipment to move tools, components, or machinery as part of maintenance tasks.
• Uses precision measurement instruments (e.g., calipers, multimeters) and shop tools to diagnose and complete detailed mechanical or electrical work.
• Maintains proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials generated through maintenance activities in compliance with regulations.
• Supports a clean, safe, and team-oriented work environment by adhering to workplace policies and contributing to production quality and performance goals.
Required Qualifications (Education, Skills, & Experience):
• High school diploma and/or GED with basic math skills and reading comprehension
• General understanding of industrial safety practices
• General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems in a production setting.
• Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools, power tools, and hand tools.
• Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
• Basic computer skills for recordkeeping and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) entry.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications (if applicable):
• Advanced training in industrial automation, PLC troubleshooting, or welding.
• Experience with lean maintenance practices and reliability-centered maintenance.
• OSHA 10 or 30-hour safety certification.
• Technical certification in industrial maintenance, HVAC, or electrical systems.
Work Environment/Conditions (Describes the physical demands and working conditions that are directly tied to the core duties of the role):
• Work is primarily performed indoors in a manufacturing facility; occasional outdoor work may be required for facility maintenance.
• Regular exposure to loud noise, grease, oil, dust, electrical currents, and potentially hazardous materials.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing ladders or stairs.
• Manual dexterity required for operating tools and handling parts.
• Regularly required to lift or move items up to 50 lbs; heavier lifting may require team assistance or equipment use.
• Schedule may require rotating shifts, weekend work, overtime, or on-call duty to support 24/7 operations.
• Designated as essential personnel during facility emergencies or operational disruptions.
