What you will do
As Quality Inspector I, you will play a vital role within the Kings Mountain Operations (KMO) facility. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet established quality standards prior to shipment. You will conduct detailed quality inspections on assembled products while you identify and document defects and non-conformances. Also collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive effective resolution and continuous improvement.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Must have a solid understanding of the production process within the assigned area.
• Follow the detailed Inspection Path to perform the visual and dimensional inspections of product features and validate required number of welds,
• Validate and ensure proper sealer bead appearance, penetration, and adherence to specifications and work instructions
• Examine cabs for cosmetic and structural defects, including paint, fit, finish, alignment, and hardware installation. Document and report any defects or non-conformances found during inspection.
• Use the provided MTV tablet & Yellow Card to record data of all defects detected at your designated quality gate, according to inspection checklist process
• Escalate to Quality Supervisor, Production Team Leads, etc. with reoccurring issues as defined by the KMO Escalation Process
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, maintaining a clean and safe working environment BY conducting general housekeeping tasks to ensure work areas remain organized and compliant with safety standards
• Utilize calipers, micrometers, weld gauges, torque wrenches, and other precision tools to verify tolerance and compliance.
• Support problem-solving efforts by identifying recurring issues, participating in containment activities, and helping develop corrective and preventive actions.
• Re-inspect repaired or reworked cabs and components to confirm that all previously identified defects have been properly addressed.
• Work closely with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
• Uphold and maintain a team-oriented environment, aligned with quality goals and company standards.
• Participate actively in daily team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain and ensure proper functionality of tools and equipment in the department.
• Keep the production area clean, organized, and compliant with housekeeping standards throughout the workday.
• Adhere to all safety and OSHA guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment such as earplugs, eye protection, welding helmets, and gloves.
• Mentor and provide guidance to technicians to develop skills and maintain high-quality performance.
• Serves as a cross-trained resource capable of performing multiple gate inspections and providing coverage as needed to support staffing gaps or absences.
Required Qualifications (Education, Skills, & Experience):
• High School Diploma or GED
• Internal Assembler ll Pathway is completed
• Familiarity with Android fundamentals
• Use of measurement tools including calipers and rulers (imperial & metric)
• Proficiency in a minimum of 60% of the production jobs in their specified production area

Preferred Qualifications (if applicable):
• Experience in Automotive welding or body work processes is preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Regularly required to lift and carry components weighing up to 50 lbs; team lift or equipment used for heavier items.
• Must be able to safely push, pull, and maneuver parts and materials on the production line as required to perform inspection and quality verification tasks.
Work Environment/Conditions:
• Regular exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and occasional exposure to fumes, dust, or extreme temperatures.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching.
• Schedule may include early morning, evening, or weekend shifts based on production needs. Overtime may be required during high volume periods.
• May be designated as essential personnel during plant operational disruptions, planned shutdowns, or emergencies.
