KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and conduct Kaizen improvement activities focused on safety, quality, and cost initiatives on Heat Treatment, Shot Peen, Coatings, and Balancing processes for Powertrain component.
• Serve in a co-leadership role within a specialized area of assignment. The individual follows the direction of Manufacturing Engineering Manager and a coordinated business plan with peers.
• Drive the Focused Improvement and Work Place Organization activities within the Volvo Production System.
• Evaluate and recommend manufacturing processes, equipment, gauging, and tooling towards zero defects and recommend a safe and clean environment for employees.
• Recognize human capabilities and limitations through ergonomic principles.
• Development of future engineering solutions to lowest possible cost, and with flexibility for product and volume changes.
• Develop cost saving proposals and improve productivity.
• Assist in developing plans to secure production capacity.
• Optimize line balances and tooling changes.
• Sustain work processes for projects within the organization.
• Utilize current production experiences into new product and manufacturing projects.
• Drive and master 5S principles throughout all activities.

You would be joining an energetic team of 8-10 innovative engineers focused on continious improvement, teaching others & self learning across various functions of the Machining business, this group has various levels of experience, skillsets and degrees to include Mechanical, Industrial & Metallurgical.

Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Material Science/Engineering, or MechanicalEngineering
0-2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing role, Co-Op and Internship count towards that.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Working knowledge of World Class Management, the Toyota Production Systems, in a manufacturing environment.
3D Modeling and Design with Solidworks or Inventor.
Working experience in a Union (UAW) production factory.
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for layouts and part prints with ability to not only interpret, but also create drawings using AutoCAD software.
