What you will do

As a System Engineer in the Thermodynamic Systems team, you will collaborate with a local and global network of teams to grasp all possible system synergies and you will lead and support our engineers to set and maintain engine performance over the vehicle lifetime, offering to our customers the best product features on the market. 


Your day-to-day job will include collaborating with multiple engineering and cross functional teams, solving complex problems, delivering products to projects to support future applications, or improving existing customer's experience.

 

  • As a System Engineer in the Thermodynamic Systems team, you will be responsible to:
  • Develop the system competence and knowledge, share experiences and metnor less experienced engineers covering engine aftertreatment systems, air handling, fuel injection, exhaust gas recirculation and in-cylinder combustion.
  • Develop recommendations in critical and complex system questions.
  • Ensure calibration across multiple technologies meets requirement and performance objectives.
  • Support and/or lead complex root cause analysis
  • Based on the input requirements the SE: 
    • Develop and write system level 1 requirements for the system(s)
    • Develop, rank, and recommend alternative technical system solutions in line with technical roadmap and strategy.
    • Perform and lead concept evaluation activities using relevant methods.
    • Propose verification methods for the system(s) to verification lead.
  • The selected technical solution is expected to be the best capable of fulfilling the system requirements.
  • Deliver frozen system requirements (baseline) at the needed milestones (release; gates; builds…) according to project time plan.
  • Perform technical review for the system for assessment of the technical readiness of the proposed system solutions.
  • Document in system description the alternative system solutions; main results and conclusions from the system analysis phase.
  • Share information with representatives from other systems as well as product applications by networking.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Science in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in Product Development within the automotive industry.
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of the market and applications.
  • Leadership experience in complex system development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively, maximizing each person’s contribution to achieve common goals.
  • Effective communicator, able to provide a clear message and use compelling arguments to gain commitment.
  • Experience in Project management, specifically in an agile environment, is an advantage.
  • Can do-attitude and resilience.
  • Ability to drive cross functional and global network and overcome roadblocks.
  • Accountable, well organized, analytical, business-focused, and holistic mind-set.
