What you will do

The Quality & Customer Satisfaction team ensures the product quality performance within a determined scope through investigating and prioritizing market product quality issues. As an Expert Product Quality Leader (PQL) you will secure the voice of the customer in the problem-solving processes through knowledge management. This demands high levels of product knowledge, problem solving, and ability to work with global colleagues across the engineering, production, purchasing & field service network. You will also be responsible for achieving product quality goals and metrics for fault frequency and warranty costs.  The Expert PQL has a strong focus on execution of key strategic initiatives within the quality organization they represent.


Responsibilities Include

  • Chairperson for a variety of forums related to field quality activities and support
  • Leadership of Quality Action Group (QAG), and other business critical quality issues as appointed.
  • Support QCS Leadership during development and execution of key strategic plans.
  • Search, detect and quantify actively & preventively customer quality issues at an early stage via enhanced analytics.
  • Prioritizing quality actions inside Volvo Group to achieve committed quality targets for assigned products. 
  • Actively search for rapid containment actions & recommend appropriate quality solving tool for an identified field issue.
  • Decide, among all the issues experienced by the customer, what are the emerging issues that must be pre-investigated.
  • Initiate, coordinate, and prioritize quality actions inside design Engineering, Purchasing, and Manufacturing.
  • Mentor and challenge other Product Quality Leaders to prioritize major issues not addressed.
  • Clear communication and reporting on product quality or on customer satisfaction within the company.
  • Check effectiveness of implemented Quality solving solutions
  • Process representative with expectation that you are the local expert and key user.
  • Request external campaign based on technical description and present at the External Campaign Committee.
  • Identify potential safety related issue upon field report / claim received and communicate to Safety Investigator.
  •  Leadership of actions/tasks within the PQL network to achieve the Application quality goals.

 

Your future team

Our team, Quality & Customer Satisfaction, is an important function for the Complete Vehicle function within Volvo Group trucks North America. This role will sit in Hagerstown, MD, which is a unique site that combines Technology and Operations on one campus.  We blend engineering and innovation with production and technology to develop and manufacture the heart of vehicles. Our engineering team supports the development, application and testing for Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks in North America.

 

Product Quality supports Volvo Group Truck products operating in North America globally through investigating, prioritizing, and leading solving activities of market product quality issues. We are responsible to investigate potential vehicle field quality issues and drive them towards resolution through Product Development, Purchasing and the Manufacturing organizations.  We contribute to the Product Development process with our customer and aftermarket knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or business-related field with master’s degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of automotive industry experience, preferably in a service, maintenance or engineering related role.
  • Concern for Order, Quality, and Accuracy with Proven Decision Quality
  • Mastery of quality solving processes with experience in predictive analytics and data mining.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office especially MS Excel.
  • Cross-functional team leadership or project management experience 
  • Experience in dealership operations or in a position with direct dealer interface a plus 
  • Ability for occasional domestic and/or international travel required.
