Intern: Business Control

The intern will support in learning the how we forecast the cost evolution for operations and assist in creative ways to streamline the process. The intern will also help the business control team to create tools to measure and improve our performance through continuous improvement.
The Financial Analyst internship position will be responsible for working with various operations functions, regional teams and customers to understand and improve our business indicators.

Purpose of the Position

The Financial Analyst internship role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment, and to promote the graduate’s career goals through contact with professionals in their field of study. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Volvo Group Operations by working on projects for the Business Control Team. Internships are structured learning experiences where interns and full time professionals work together on projects within their selected area of the organization. The internship allows students to integrate their Business/Operations knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Volvo Group Production Logistics.

Skills and Competencies

  • Applicants should be interested in pursuing a professional career in Operations, Finance or related field at an accredited school and have completed 30 semester hours of undergraduate studies.
  • Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75
  • Summer interns can work up to 40 hours per week
  • Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Applicants should be proficient in use of web based tools, access database, and Microsoft Power BI
  • Creative thinking and continuous improvement mindset
  • Manufacturing or Lean Manufacturing Knowledge is nice to have
  • Willingness to learn, network and improve

Professional Objectives

  • Project Presentations - Formal project presentations will be required to be presented to peers, management, and senior leaders within the organization
  • Mentor Feedback - Throughout the entire summer experience, the mentor will provide verbal and written feedback on performance

For all intern and co-op positions, the hourly range is set at $16.00 - $46.00. The hourly rate for these roles is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, academic classification, and degree seeking area of study.
