What you will do

  • Manage your Assembly organization against set safety, quality, delivery and financial targets by leading and coaching your production team.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and behaviors for all team members using a methodical approach to risk identification, mitigation and competence development
  • Continue the implementation of Volvo Production System (VPS), which means to implement standardized ways of working, develop the organization and achieve contribution from all employees
  • Full accountability and ownership of your team’s development, UAW relations, project follow up, midterm road map (0-1 year) and policy deployment from plant to operator level.
  • Inspire and influence through a communicative leadership style with your team and cross functional groups, with 2 way communication and high employee engagement. Ensure all employees are aware of their responsibilities, how they contribute to the total result and that they are recognized for performance
  • Develop the industrial workforce to secure competence.
  • Assess performance, competencies, and flexibility of employees within the department and initiate appropriate training, counselling, or corrective action to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the employees
  • Understand and apply the principles of lean manufacturing. Lead and coach the techniques and methodologies of the Volvo Production System (VPS).
  • Anticipate and react to any issues that could affect performance. Secure problems are reported, root causes identified and appropriate actions plans implemented. Initiate and follow up on improvement projects.
  • Actively work to translate theory into practical application in the daily work.
  • Maintain accurate time and attendance records for all departmental employees; initiate and record corrective actions to address attendance issues
  • Understand the Collective Bargaining Unit Agreements and collaborate with union officials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • The ideal candidate for this position has a Associates Degree in a relevant field and five (5) years’ supervision experience in a manufacturing environment OR seven years minimum combined education and supervision experience within a manufacturing environment.

At the Volvo Group, we strive for a clear, transparent, and straightforward compensation approach, motivating you to contribute to the company’s growth. For this position, the base pay is set at $96,000 - $118,500 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible.  The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
