We are currently offering a rare opportunity to join our team as an Apprentice Powertrain Electronic Technician at our Hagerstown, MD facility. Our program is in partnership with the UAW, Local 171 and the state of Maryland.  Don’t worry if you don’t have experience in this type of role, we will support you to develop your skills within your new position.

The apprenticeship program gives you the opportunity to become a skilled Powertrain Electronic Technician.  Upon successful completion of the program, you will earn a UAW Journeyman card, opening the door to excellent career opportunities and long-term prospects.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong verbal, written and analytical skills
  • Ability to understand and execute written and verbal instructions
  • Basic math, reading and mechanical reasoning skills.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, including motors, drives, PLCs and control panels
  • Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints and technical documentation
  • Support troubleshooting of electrical faults and assist in root cause analysis
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability
  • Learn to use diagnostic tools and software for monitoring system performance.
  • Follow all applicable safety standards and regulations, including OSHA and NFPA 70E, to ensure a safe working environment
  • Consistently apply internal safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and electrical safety practices
  • Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area to prevent accidents and support operational efficiency
  • Attend regular meetings, safety briefings, and training sessions to stay informed about best practices and business updates
  • Consistently demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality, ensuring availability to support training, education, team objectives and operational efficiency
  • Accurately record all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs and replacements
  • Offer feedback on training materials and processes to help improve the apprenticeship program and support continuous learning
  • All other duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and moving machinery
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, bend, stoop, kneel, reach and work in confined spaces or at heights using required PPE
  • Shift rotation required during the apprenticeship

 

REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 yrs old
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Background Check
  • Drug Testing
  • ACT WorkKeys Testing Required

 

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • $10,000 completion bonus
  • Starting Wage: $31.94
  • Length of Program: 5 Years with wage increases every 2,000 hours worked
  • 10,000 hours On the Job Training (OJT)
  • 960 hours of Related Training Instruction (RTI)
  • Tools are provided
  • UAW Journeyman Card upon successful completion
  • Paid to attend RTI during workday
  • Vacation and Holidays
