Main Mission
The Engine Diagnostician & Repair Technician is responsible for performing all rework operations at the Complete Vehicle Assembly Plant (CVA). Including assembly, disassembly, diagnosis, analysis, and adjustment of mechanical, electrical, or electronic components (parts or sub-assemblies) on engines. While adhering to instructions regarding safety, ergonomics, environment, quality, deadlines, cost, and internal operating procedures. They must diagnose and report any non-conformities and malfunctions found to the Powertrain Plant (HAG).
Requirements
• High school diploma preferred or completion of vocational/ technical school.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude with experience preferred but not required.
• Valid driver license with the ability to obtain CDL license.
Specific Professional Knowledge
• Knowledge of and adherence to all safety instructions specific to the products.
• Basic and/or advanced knowledge of fault diagnosis and assembly:
o Knowledge of engines, parts usage, and the assembly line.
o Basic and/or advanced knowledge of electricity and electronics.
o Ability to read blueprints and identify part non-conformities (using a diagnostic tool, etc.).
• Staying informed of product/process developments (monitoring product updates via the PMO or Production Quality, etc.).
• Proficiency in standard office software and industry-specific IT tools (GASS, MONT, OCD, etc.).
• Ability to use assembly and measurement equipment (overhead cranes, hoists, stackers, forklifts, etc.).
Significant Activities & Responsibilities
• Perform diagnostics and corrective actions for Engine and Transmissions at the CVA.
• Document and communicate defects.
• Communicate spare part needs.
• Work with CVA to understand CVA damage.
• Perform regular GEMBA with CVA production line.
• Support Powertain Quality, ie. Quality Campaigns and Quality Improvements.
• Maintain a perfectly organized and clean workstation.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department (for example, by conducting KPIs, tagging, and undertaking cross-functional projects for the department).
