Job Description

Quality Engineer III positions offered by Mack Trucks, Inc. (Hagerstown, Maryland). Gather, analyze, and make decisions based on data collected through statistical process control in all machining areas to drive continuous improvement and reduce scrap. Support complex problem solving by using lean manufacturing tools to determine root cause and implement sustaining countermeasures to prevent future occurrences. Serve as key user for internal statistical process control software (Prolink) and ensure that all machining areas have robust processes to utilize the data collected. Understand process variation and take preventive measures. Develop, implement and coordinate statistical process control activities. Facilitate the coordination of measurement techniques to process needs. Establish gauge validation plans and analyze the results. Monitor process capabilities and perform capability studies when needed or required. Develop specific instructions for capability studies performed in accordance with APQP activities. Assist the resolution of manufacturing issues including conducting failure analysis and corrective actions. Participate in scrap reduction and process improvement projects with other functions. Support new product and process launch validation through APQP. Maintain and develop process control plans and process FMEAs. Assist with problem solving team to analyze and resolve manufacturing issues. Train associates in both theory and application of quality tools such as statistics, inspection methods, problem solving, process analysis and improvement.

 

Minimum Requirements:  
• Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in quality engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, data science, or a related field and 5 years of experience performing quality or manufacturing engineering.


• Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following: 
     o    Performing quality inspection, testing data analysis, and documenting and problem solving in the metals machining industry
     o    Problem solving using one of the following tools: APQP, MSA, or SPC
     o    Working with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) 
     o    Processing metal castings and forgings
     o    Working with QMS requirements in compliance with ISO 9001 2015

 • Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.

For this position, the base pay is set at $119,080 - $146,800 annually, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience. In addition to these factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
