Position Summary
The CAD Engineer will be responsible for preparing, coordinating, and reviewing utility layouts, infrastructure drawings, and plant engineering documentation for industrial projects. The role requires close coordination with process, civil, architectural, utility, and equipment suppliers to ensure accurate design integration, clash-free installation, and compliance with statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Utility Engineering & Layout Development
- Prepare and develop utility layouts for industrial facilities, including water, compressed air, gas, steam, chilled water, firefighting, and drainage systems.
- Plan and coordinate utility routing considering process requirements, maintenance access, and future expansion needs.
- Optimize utility distribution networks for efficient plant operation.
ETP (Effluent Treatment Plant) Planning
- Develop and review ETP layouts based on process requirements.
- Coordinate utility connections, equipment placement, piping routes, and maintenance access within ETP areas.
- Ensure integration of ETP facilities with overall plant infrastructure.
Engineering Drawing Review
- Study and interpret vendor drawings, particularly from paint shop and process suppliers such as Dürr.
- Review:
- P&ID (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams)
- General Arrangement (GA) Drawings
- Utility Schematics
- Equipment Layout Drawings
- Verify utility requirements and identify design constraints.
Coordination with Civil, Architectural & Structural Disciplines
- Review and coordinate:
- PEB (Pre-Engineered Building) drawings
- Architectural drawings
- Civil and structural drawings
- Ensure utility systems are properly integrated with building structures and architectural requirements.
Clash Detection & Design Coordination
- Perform utility clash checks against equipment layouts, structural elements, architectural features, and vendor installations.
- Coordinate with Dürr and other equipment suppliers to resolve interface issues.
- Maintain updated coordinated layouts throughout project execution.
Regulatory & Statutory Compliance
- Support preparation of drawings and documentation required for government approvals.
- Ensure utility and infrastructure layouts comply with applicable local regulations, safety standards, environmental requirements, and statutory norms.
Site Engineering Support
- Provide daily engineering support to site execution teams.
- Issue updated drawings and revisions as required for construction activities.
- Conduct site visits to verify installation progress and resolve drawing-related issues.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders for timely resolution of site challenges.
Qualifications
- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
- 5–8 years of experience in industrial plant projects, manufacturing facilities, paint shops, automotive plants, or utility engineering.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory).
- Experience with Plant 3D, Revit, Navisworks, or equivalent coordination software is preferred.

- GA Drawings
- Utility Layouts
- PEB Drawings
- Architectural Drawings
- Structural Drawings
- Knowledge of industrial utility systems and ETP infrastructure.
- Experience in clash detection and multidisciplinary coordination.
