About the NATS Program:
National Apprenticeship Training Scheme is one of the flagship programmes of Government of India for Skilling Indian Youth in Trade disciplines. The National Apprenticeship Training Scheme under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961 amended in 1973; Volvo Group offers Graduate,a practical, hands-on On-the-Job-Training (OJT) based skilling opportunities with duration of 1 year.
What you will do?
Graduate Apprentice Trainee will support the Health & Safety team in implementing workplace safety programs, monitoring compliance with statutory requirements, conducting inspections, promoting safety culture, and assisting in risk reduction activities. The trainee will gain practical exposure to industrial safety management systems and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities
1. Safety Inspections & Monitoring
- Assist in conducting daily workplace safety inspections.
- Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and near-miss incidents.
- Support closure of corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in departmental safety audits.
- Monitor housekeeping standards across the facility.
- Verify compliance with safety procedures and work instructions.
2. Risk Assessment Activities
- Assist in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and Risk Assessments.
- Support hazard identification exercises with stakeholders
- Participate in process risk assessments and workplace surveys.
- Assist in developing risk control measures.
- Maintain risk assessment records and documentation.
- Weekly Risk assessment & Unsafe conditions report
3. Safety Training & Awareness
- Assist in organizing safety induction programs for new employees and contractors.
- Support in conducting Safety training and safety briefings.
- Participate in National Safety Month activities.
- Assist in preparation of safety presentations and awareness materials.
- Coordinate safety campaigns and competitions.
4. Incident Reporting & Investigation
- Assist in reporting accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Participate in incident investigations.
- Collect evidence and witness statements.
- Prepare preliminary investigation reports.
- Track implementation of corrective actions.
5. Emergency Preparedness & Response
- Support Emergency Response Team (ERT) activities.
- Participate in mock drills.
- Inspect emergency equipment such as:
- Fire extinguishers
- Fire hydrants
- Emergency exits
- Eyewash stations
- Spill kits
- Assist in updating emergency response plans.
6. Statutory Compliance Support
- Assist in maintaining compliance records under applicable laws:
- Factories Act
- State Factory Rules
- Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSHWC) Code
- Fire Safety Regulations
- Support regulatory inspections and audits.
7. Safety Committee Support
- Participate in Safety Committee meetings.
- Record meeting minutes.
- Follow up on action items.
- Assist in implementing committee recommendations.
8. Digitalization
- Digitalization in regular day to day activities
