We are looking for an experienced Industrial Relations and People & Culture Business Partner to support the growth phase and to secure strategic competence to handle business challenges proactively. This role will bring a strategic intervention in Industrial Relations and Human resources Management.

 

The incumbent will be part of Volvo Group India Labour and Employee relations Council and will participate in important Management meetings. Working in a matrix organization balancing multiple priorities at the same time and able to navigate between short term and long-term activities, to constantly move between operational & strategic mindset.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Industrial Relations and People & Culture Business Partner to support our growth phase and proactively address business challenges. This role will play a strategic role in Industrial Relations (IR) and Human Resource Management, balancing short-term and long-term priorities in a matrix organization.

 

You will be part of Volvo Group India’s Labour and Employee Relations Council, participate in key management meetings, and lead initiatives across business areas to drive engagement, compliance, and workforce development.

Key Responsibilities

1. Industrial Relations & Compliance

  • Develop and implement Industrial Relations policies aligned with Volvo’s business direction.
  • Lead wage negotiations and maintain productive relations with union representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws and social security regulations in coordination with legal teams.
  • Build relationships with government authorities, industry forums, and regulatory bodies to enhance company reputation and maintain harmonious relations.

 

2. Employee Relations & Workplace Culture

  • Oversee grievance handling and ensure fair resolution of employee concerns.
  • Promote discipline and adherence to company policies and the Volvo Way.
  • Foster an inclusive and engaging work environment aligned with our 100% employee involvement ambition.

 

3. Talent & Leadership Development

  • Support manpower planning and recruitment strategies for blue-collar and contractual staff.
  • Partner with leaders to identify and develop future skills and competencies.
  • Coach and support managers in building high-performing teams using workforce data and external benchmarks.

 

4. Employee Engagement & Recognition

  • Design and implement employee engagement initiatives that enhance workplace satisfaction.
  • Develop rewards and recognition programs to drive motivation and retention.
  • Conduct engagement surveys and implement actionable insights for continuous improvement.

 

5. Collaboration & Change Management

  • Work closely with People Services, Volvo Group University, and Centers of Excellence (CoE) to drive the People & Culture agenda.
  • Champion cultural transformation initiatives and support change management programs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Postgraduate degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or Social Work (MSW), and Law (LLB).
  • 10-15 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, managing Industrial Relations & HR.
  • Strong understanding of labour laws, compliance, and collective bargaining.
  • Proven skills in union management, negotiations, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to coach leaders and influence cultural transformation.
  • Excellent collaboration and relationship management skills.
  • Strategic mindset with a holistic approach to workforce planning

Language Proficiency

  • Fluent in English (written & verbal)
  • Kannada (written & verbal) – Mandatory
