Logistics Engineer

Location:

Hosakote, IN, 562122

Position Type:  Professional

Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.

Role Purpose

Engineer, implement, and sustain end-to-end logistics systems that ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective flow of materials for multimodel truck assembly, domestic parts, and CKD kit exports. Own PFEP across models/markets, line feeding and route pitch, returnable and export packaging, ERP/MES/WMS master data integrity, customs documentation readiness, international shipping coordination, and continuous improvement to support takt, mix, and global OTIF.

Scope Overview

Multi-model assembly support includes applying Heijunka leveling to stabilize flow, and designing warehouse, kitting, and sequencing concepts to reliably supply mixed models and options. It also involves engineering inhouse milk-run routes and route pitch that can handle multiple shops and high variant density while maintaining capacity and aisle safety. Finally, it means optimizing point-of-use presentation so parts are available where needed, in the right quantity and orientation, with strong ergonomics and fast changeovers to protect takt and quality.

Key Responsibilities

A) PFEP & Master Data (Assembly + Parts + CKD)

  • Maintain PFEP for every part and CKD component: dimensions, weight, pack size, storage/slotting, linefeed method, kit assignment, export classification.
  • Govern ERP/MES/WMS/TMS master data: storage locations, lineside IDs, kit structures, container IDs, scan points, export HS codes.
  • Ensure traceability (barcode/RFID) and error proofing (Poka-yoke) across production and export operations.

B) Line Feeding & Internal Logistics

  • Engineer milk run routes, pitch, load plans for mixed models; balance route capacity vs takt and aisle safety.
  • Define kitting vs Kanban vs sequencing per part family using a decision matrix (takt, variant complexity, ergonomics, risk).
  • Author SOPs for receiving, decanting, supermarket replenishment, and changeover control.

C) Packaging & Container Engineering (Domestic + Export)

  • Design returnable packaging for internal flows and export grade packaging (wood/fiber/steel crates, moisture/anticorrosion).
  • Validate dunnage and load stability for heavy/awkward parts (frames, axles, engines, cabs).

D) Warehouse & Parts Fulfilment

  • Slotting for parts (ABC/XYZ), fast lane for hot demand items, and batch/wave pick logic.
  • Design consolidation zones for domestic and export staging; implement scan discipline.
  • Cycle counting, inventory accuracy, and damage control measures with visual management.

E) Systems & Visibility

  • Partner with IT to build dashboards for assembly OTIF, route adherence, inventory accuracy, export readiness, demurrage/detention risk.
  • Integrate WMS/TMS milestones: ASN, gate in, stuffing complete, VGM, SI/AMS filing, ETD/ETA, POD.

F) Safety, Sustainability & CI

  • Engineer logistics safety: aisle width, speed limits, load stability, pedestrian segregation, ergonomics.
  • Run Kaizen projects to cut stoppages, travel, touches, and waste across domestic and export flows.

Core Competencies & Skills

Technical: PFEP (multimodel), kitting/sequencing, route pitch, cube optimization, export packaging & load securement, corrosion prevention.

Trade & Compliance: HS classification basics, Incoterms, export documentation, VGM/SOLAS, broker/forwarder workflows.

Systems: SAP/Oracle/Infor (MM, WM/EWM, SD, GTS), MES, WMS/TMS, barcode/RFID, Power BI/Tableau.

Methods: Lean (Heijunka, Kanban), MTM/VSM, 5S, A3/8D, SMED for logistics changeovers.

Tools: AutoCAD/Visio (layouts/stuffing plans), Excel/Power Query, basic simulation.

Soft Skills: Cross functional leadership, vendor/3PL management, clear documentation, analytical problemsolving.

Qualifications

Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Industrial/Production/Supply Chain (or equivalent).

Experience: 2–5 years in automotive/truck assembly logistics, parts distribution, and/or CKD export programs, SAP EWM/GTS exposure

Certifications: Lean/Six Sigma, MTM, Ergonomics, IATA/IMDG awareness (nice to have).
