What you will do
Dual lead and contribute to the development of work on quality assurance of product geometry in both ongoing production and in the operations area’s projects and CMM measurement of cabs as per Volvo Corporate guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all geometric aspects of the cabs produced in Volvo's cab factory, Hoskote.
- Maintain and contribute to the development of routines and instructions for product review.
- Maintain and contribute to the development of requirements, specifications for fixture design with regard to geometry.
- Ensure that process and tool drawing documentation is kept up to date.
- Lead or participate in assigned projects related with Project Steering Model (PSM) approach.
- Support Operations area regarding quality issues or product review issues.
- Recommend and implement changes to existing processes, with regard to geometry assurance in consultation with the responsible production engineer.
- Be the operations area contact for geometry issues of cab.
- Actively participate in the operational area meeting structure.
- Drive design validation & development of Jigs & fixtures.
- Analyse geometric tolerances through CMM results & identify the correction in Jigs & Fixtures.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Lead and contribute to the development of work on quality assurance of product cab geometry and CMM, fixtures in both project operations and ongoing production, product reviews, quality issues etc.,
- Maintain and contribute to the development of fixture design requirements, with regard to geometry.
- Knowledge in programming for CMM by using the PIWEB quality data management and PolyWorks metrology software.
- Generate CMM reports and analyse with actual fixtures.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication.
- Knowledge of BIW cab geometry, production processes in automotive sector -Truck or Car industry.
- Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, specifically within cab welding processes.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Familiarity with quality control methods and tools.
- Proficiency in data analysis and process optimization techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to welding processes.
- Good computer skills.
Work Environment
- Typically operates in a professional BIW production line, CMM equipment or lab, using computers, printers, and other standard office equipment
- Have to interact with global manufacturing teams and line builders on weekly basis
- Reports to “Director – Manufacturing engineering & Maintenance” & Project Manager – BIW
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of industrial exposure and “hands - on experience” automotive sector
Education:
- BE/B.Tech – Mechanical Engineering preferably with certificates for Product Geometry and CMM programming

- Self-driven, collaborative, and adaptable to feedback.
- Cooperation skills and capable of working with intra and inter departments and manage multiple cab models in defined time frame
- Take initiative to take up topics to communicate and explain technical aspects to Volvo team members, line builders and equipment suppliers
