Material Controller

As a Material Controller, your primary tasks are:

Supplier Coordination:

  • Daily monitor the deliveries from suppliers according to the call off and act on deviations
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding delivery schedules, order confirmations, and discrepancies
  • Track inbound shipments and update delivery status in the system.
  • Assist in resolving delivery and quality issues with suppliers.
  • Monitor daily MRP Alarms (missing ASN) and take necessary actions
  • Monitor in-transit ASN’s, call off/ IDOC’s report in SAP system
  • Update MRP parameters in SAP time to time as and when new parts and new suppliers are introduced
  • Manage deviations swiftly and take decisions in the most cost-efficient way in order to minimize risks of disturbances
  • Communicate to supplier on low SDP supplier and follow-up for action plan with Purchasing Team

 

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels as per norms.
  • Manage and coordinate with supplier for JIT parts

 

Internal Stakeholders Co-ordination:

  • Coordinate with the production planning team to ensure materials are available to meet production schedules.
  • Monitor material shortages and escalate issues to the Senior Material Controller or Material Manager.
  • Communicate to internal stake holders on the critical parts list
  • Co-ordinate with Supplier Relationship Manager for supplier risk and crisis
  • Monitor in-transit shipment with Production Logistics team and take necessary action for late shipments

 

Data Analysis & process improvement:

  • Run reports from the ERP system to analyze material shortages, and supplier performance (SDP report).
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in material flow and inventory control.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree Engineering, Bachelor of Science (Mathematics/Computer Science/Chemistry)  Bachelor of Commerce.

Experience:

  • 2-5 years of experience in a supply chain, materials management, or logistics role.
  • Prior internship or experience in an automotive or manufacturing environment is a significant plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Plex) is highly desirable.
  • Basic understanding of supply chain principles and inventory management concepts (e.g., JIT, Inventory valuation).

Analytical Skills:

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, Microsoft Excel, Power point, Power Bi and knowledge in Python will be added advantage

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn.
