Service Operations & Technology (SO&T) is the organization within the Volvo Group responsible for developing and securing the service operations and technical solutions our customers depend on every day, across all brands globally. The supply chain is a highly collaborative value chain, bringing together cross-functional expertise to address evolving challenges and opportunities. In the Lyon & International (L&I) region, we manage end-to-end supply chain operations from suppliers to dealers to deliver optimal outcomes for Volvo brands and customers across diverse markets.
Our network includes a Central Distribution Center in Lyon and 12 Regional Distribution Centers across key global locations, with Seoul also serving as the CDC for Volvo CE excavators. We focus on sustainable performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, people, and environment. Aligned with Volvo Group’s 2030 vision, we drive operational excellence, strengthen global partnerships, and continuously enhance customer focus and service development.
The Position: Operations Manager
We are seeking an experienced, results-driven, and people-focused Warehouse Operations Manager to lead our Distribution Center operations in Bengaluru and play a pivotal role in our transformation from a Regional Distribution Center (RDC) to a Central Distribution Center (CDC). As the scope of operations expands to support growing domestic and international supply chain requirements, this role will be critical in driving operational excellence, warehouse modernization, organizational capability development, and effective workforce management across both Office Workers (OW) and Industrial Workers (IW).
Leading the distribution facility and a team of warehouse professionals, the successful candidate will be accountable for delivering world-class operational performance across safety, quality, productivity, inventory accuracy, lead times, and customer service. The role requires a strong operational background in warehouse and distribution center management, combined with proven experience in change management, process optimization, large-scale operational transformation, and industrial relations. The successful candidate will also be responsible for fostering a positive employee relations environment, ensuring compliance with labor regulations, engaging with union representatives where applicable, and partnering closely with consultant teams on workforce planning, organizational development, and people-related initiatives.
As a key member of the DC Management Team, you will drive Lean, continuous improvement, digitalization, and data-driven performance while fostering a high-performing culture aligned with Volvo Group Values. This role is instrumental in supporting the RDC-to-CDC transformation and developing the people, processes, and capabilities required for future business growth.
The role reports to the Head of DC Bangalore.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations Leadership
- Lead end-to-end warehouse operations: inbound, storage, inventory, fulfillment, shipping, returns, and reconciliation.
- Ensure readiness for RDC-to-CDC transition with increased complexity and expanded flows.
- Drive efficiency, productivity, service levels, and cost optimization while maintaining quality.
- Establish strong governance, controls, and performance management systems.
CDC Transformation & International Operations
- Lead CDC transformation and future network expansion initiatives.
- Develop scalable strategies for regional and international distribution.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders to ensure seamless logistics execution.
- Design scalable processes, infrastructure, and resource plans to support growth.
Operational Excellence & Lean
- Drive Lean/VPS-based operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Improve productivity, reduce waste and optimize lead times and costs.
- Embed structured problem-solving (RCA, Kaizen, VSM).
- Track performance through KPIs and drive improvement actions.
Digitalization & Analytics
- Lead digital transformation and automation initiatives across warehouse operations.
- Utilize dashboards, analytics, and BI tools to drive data-based decisions.
- Monitor operational performance, identify trends and optimize processes.
- Drive continuous improvement through digital solutions and data analytics.
- Promote a digital-first culture and adoption of emerging technologies.
People Leadership & Development
- Build a high-performing, customer-centric organization through coaching and capability development.
- Lead workforce planning aligned to CDC scale and business needs.
- Drive engagement, performance management and strong employee relations.
- Manage internal/external stakeholders to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Champion a zero-incident safety culture by enforcing Volvo Group standards, driving proactive risk management and ensuring full compliance across all operations.
- Ensure Legal Metrology compliance through accurate MRP declaration
- Promote proactive safety culture and risk management.
Experience
- BE/B.Tech or MBA in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in warehouse, distribution center, logistics, or supply chain operations, including leadership roles.
- Strong operational background managing large-scale warehouse or distribution center environments.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred
- Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate
- Experience supporting regional and international supply chain operations is highly preferred.

This position is based in Hoskote, India and reports to the Head of RDC.
Occasional travel will be required.
