About the Role:

Volvo Group India is seeking exceptional defense veterans to join our dynamic Industrial Relations team. This unique opportunity offers a 9-month consulting assignment to gain in-depth knowledge of talent acquisition strategies and practices. Upon successful completion, selected candidates will have an opportunity to be hired as full-time IR lead depending on the business requirements and performance of the individual.

 

Job Location – Hoskote, Bangalore

 

Responsibilities:

 

1. Industrial Relations & Compliance 

  • Develop and implement Industrial Relations policies aligned with Volvo’s business direction. 
  • Lead wage negotiations and maintain productive relations with union representatives. 
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws and social security regulations in coordination with legal teams. 
  • Build relationships with government authorities, industry forums, and regulatory bodies to enhance company reputation and maintain harmonious relations. 

2. Employee Relations & Workplace Culture 

  • Oversee grievance handling and ensure fair resolution of employee concerns. 
  • Promote discipline and adherence to company policies and the Volvo Way. 
  • Foster an inclusive and engaging work environment aligned with our 100% employee involvement ambition. 

3. Talent & Leadership Development 

  • Support manpower planning and recruitment strategies for blue-collar and contractual staff. 
  • Partner with leaders to identify and develop future skills and competencies. 
  • Coach and support managers in building high-performing teams using workforce data and external benchmarks. 

4. Employee Engagement & Recognition 

  • Design and implement employee engagement initiatives that enhance workplace satisfaction. 
  • Develop rewards and recognition programs to drive motivation and retention. 
  • Conduct engagement surveys and implement actionable insights for continuous improvement. 

5. Collaboration & Change Management 

  • Work closely with People Services, Volvo Group University, and Centers of Excellence (CoE) to drive the People & Culture agenda. 
  • Champion cultural transformation initiatives and support change management programs. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Military Experience: 8-15 years of experience in the Indian Army/Navy/Air Force.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams.
  • Ability to coach leaders and influence cultural transformation. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Analytical mindset and ability to solve complex problems.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic mindset with a holistic approach to workforce planning
