The GTO International Manufacturing focus is to support the Sales & Marketing organization by being present with assembly operations in the local market when required. We operate some fully Volvo owned plants in South Africa, India, Australia and Algeria as well as a Joint Ventures in Saudi Arabia. We also support KD assembly worldwide together with Private Partners. Our industrial development team work close to all sales organizations investigating localization needs, both change in existing footprint as well as expansion to new markets.
GTO International Manufacturing supports 3 brands, operate in 11 countries and we are around 1300 employes. We secure local assembly operations in countries where the import taxes are high on CBU trucks or when legal local demands require local assembly.
Our operations encompass all processes from incoming orders to delivery of complete trucks to our customers, including the start-up of new overseas factories and the introduction of new products into existing factories. The main flow of parts and components are coming from our pick and pack platforms in Sweden, France and US.
Hoskote plant information:
The Volvo Group Trucks assembly plant at Hosakote, Bangalore started its operations in the year 1998, becoming the first European Commercial Vehicle manufacturer in India. The plant is spread across over 120 acres of land with beautiful landscape and meets ISO 9001/14001 standards with it’s well established Quality and Environmental Management Systems in place since the early days.
The Hoskote Site is part of Volvo Group Private Limited and is shared by multiple BA/BU’s including the commercial operations of VECV –Joint venture partner in India. One of the responsibility is to coordinate between all BA/BU’s present in Hoskote for smooth operation of the Site.
This state-of-the-art VOLVO truck operation is on Gold level in Volvo Production System.
It is operated as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) factory. It includes on top of Final assembly also Axle assembly, Cab welding, cab painting & cab trimming and as well as superstructure installation before Final GOK . The Plant is also responsible for Contract Assembly of Volvo Cars.
The plant is on a transformation journey as we are in the path to establish a new hub in India to leverage geographical and supply-chain advantages. This hub aims to support India's market growth, utilize the potential supplier base in the region, and consolidate volumes
This transformation will significantly scale up the Hoskote operation with new installation and increased capabilites for domestic and export markets.
Position Description and Main Responsibility
We are looking for a person who can engage, organize, lead and transfer our vision into day-to-day activities.
The transformation journey towards a new Industrial 4 Hub calls for a thorough understanding of effective change management strategies.
As VP IM Hoskote Plant you will have the responsibility for the performance, deliveries and development of activities within your plant. You will report directly to the SVP International Manufacturing, Group Trucks Operations and be part of International Manufacturing Management team and India Country Management Team.
• Provide on-site leadership, motivation and direction through teamwork and communication at all levels.
• Lead the team and plant in the transformation journey
• Ensure the compliance with company and local policies, regulations and values
• Act as a worthy Volvo representative towards customers, suppliers and local authorities
• Set-up production resources, processes and safety and quality systems in order to deliver quality trucks in time, in a cost efficient way.
• Secure that all manufacturing operations fulfil requirements in terms of safety, quality, delivery precision, cost, and employees engagement
• Manage production planning and capacity of the plant in full cooperation with the relevant GTO IM and GTO staff functions
• Drive VPS deployment and coach the teams towards a world-class delivery performance
• Grow further leadership competencies within the plant in order to secure efficient management and preparedness of organization for the future
• Participate actively in the management team of GTO IM and India Country Management

As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required.
