About this Role
As a Safety Intern, you will assist in implementing and maintaining a safe work environment by conducting inspections, assisting with training, and contributing to safety initiatives, gaining hands-on experience in safety management.
What you will do
Key Responsibilities:
- Safety Inspections: Assist in conducting regular safety inspections of the distribution center to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Training Assistance: Support the development and delivery of safety training materials and sessions for employees.
- Incident Reporting and Investigation: Assist in documenting and investigating workplace incidents, gathering information, and preparing reports.
- Safety Program Support: Participate in safety meetings, committees, and initiatives to promote a strong safety culture.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and other safety-related documentation.
- Data Analysis: Assist in analyzing safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Other duties as assigned: Support other safety-related projects and tasks as needed.
Who are you?
Required Skills and Qualifications:
•Applicants must be currently enrolled and pursuing a degree at an accredited school, preferably in a safety-related field:.

- Industrial Hygiene
- Safety Management
- Physics: Medical or Pre-Medical
- Sports Medicine
- Occupational Therapy and related undergraduate “Pre-OT” degrees
- Occupational Safety and Health
- Mechanical Engineering w/ Ergonomic and Safety Focus
- Applicants must have completed 30 semester hours before the internship starts and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic knowledge of safety regulations and principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Interns may work up to 30 hours during the spring semester.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
• Experience in a distribution center or warehouse environment.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations.
• Experience with safety software or data analysis tools.
