If you would like to join an exciting and challenging position as a member of the Southern Africa Volvo Group Business Control team, then this may be the position for you! We’re looking for someone who can proactively support the Used Trucks business to reach the strategic and financial objectives. In addition you keep track of and coordinates the Selling Expenses control, in close communication with all the business owners of Volvo Trucks South Africa.

 

The main purpose of the job is to work in strong partnership together with the Used Trucks Manager and the Used Trucks operational team. To manage closing and estimate processes for Used Trucks business in close corporation with the Business Controller New Trucks securing the entire lifecycle flow of the truck. As Selling and Expense coordinator for the entire Volvo Trucks South Africa business you are also in tight cooperation with several business areas and support functions. You are operational in this role and can provide detailed controlling reports. You act as a business partner and co-driver to the business. 

Your co-drivers are the Manager Used Truck Sales, Business Controller of New Trucks, Financial Accountant in Financial Control & Accounting (FCA), and owners of several business areas and support functions (ia Executive Leadership Team members) for the Selling Expense follow up.


Reporting:  This position will report to the CFO of Volvo Trucks South Africa.

 

Job Objectives:

 

  • Drive Used Trucks Business Control and manage the residual value portfolio. 
  • Serve as important contributor to the Used Trucks Performance Forum and Residual value commitee.
  • Coordinate and monthly calculate the Used Trucks Sales Reps Comission outcome.
  • Secure the Selling Expenses Forecast, Follow up and communication with the stakeholders. 
  • Actively propose and drive the support of improvments of all controlling related revenue and expense reporting, ensuring proactive control, accuracy, predictability and timely delivery of results, analysis and forecasts.
  • This role entails very good knowledge of SAP general ledger accounting to ensure that all local and corporate reporting for the business is completed accurate and in a timely manner in close co-operation with Financial Control and Accounting (FCA) as well as the Business Control team in Volvo Trucks International.
  • Secure the way of working alignement with Business Manual to ensure compliance with laws, policies and standards incl. the Used Trucks Operational Manual, Financial Policies and Procedures (FPP), etc. and provide support during external and internal audits.
  • Be a business partner and contribute to continous improvment.
  • Prepare risk assessments and work pro-actively with our Internal audit manager to ensure Volvo Group compliance.
  • Provide financial guidance to stakeholders.
  • Liase with other Finance colleagues for decision making, analysis, reporting and consolidation.
  • Actively maintain the trade-ins schedule and flow of trades to ensure accurate postings.

Qualification & Experience:

 

  • Min Bachelor (or higher degree) in Business Administration, Finance and Economics or similar is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting/business control experience.
  • Proven experience in a finance role in a similar sized organisation would be preferable.
  • SAP, Microsoft office (advanced Excel), Oracle Essbase, Hyperion Planning and Power BI.

  • Analytical thinking – ability to understand, structure and think through implementable solutions to business-related problems. Interpret data, draw conclusions and provide guidance by balancing strong commercial acumen with a risk and control mind-set.
