What you will do
Volvo Financial Services (VFS) is seeking a Managing Director South Africa.
Reporting: You will report directly to the Senior Vice President Region International and be based in South Africa.
The Managing Director South Africa is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the VFS business. The position manages the development and execution of the business plans within Volvo Group guidelines. This includes achieving commercial and profitability targets throughout the organization, maximizing shareholder value. It also includes managing the strategic integration between VFS and the respective Business Areas in South Africa i.e. Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment and Volvo Bus.
This position takes the full responsibility for driving and executing on strategies to achieve VFS business objectives. This position also manages the development and execution of the business plans within Volvo Group guidelines including achieving sales and profitability targets through the organization, maximizing shareholder value, and managing the strategic integration between VFS and the respective Business Areas.
Job Objectives
- Execute VFS strategy and drive realization of the VFS South Africa business plan in support of Volvo Group product sales.
- Represents VFS in local Country Management Team (CMT) of Business Areas (BA).
- Systematically manages deliveries, finance penetration, managed assets, operating income, expenses, investments, and headcount to ensure business performance.
- Proactively identifies and drives initiatives that support BA’s in meeting their market share objectives.
- Develops further the captive culture, passion and customer focused mindset of VFS South Africa, aligns roles and responsibilities of VFS employees towards customer success and sustainable performance.
- Ensure transparency and a good relationship with the local regulatory authorities.
- Leads and supports the direct reports and respective teams by providing direction, motivation and professional development.
- Recruits, develops, and retains talented employees.
- Ensures compliance and adherence to legislative standards and regulatory requirements as well as Volvo policies and guidelines when leading and supporting business initiatives.
- For necessary legal obligations, the function may be required to act as a legal representative.

Qualifications & Job Experience
- University degree in Finance, Business Administration or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in captive financing, preferably in equipment leasing. Profit and Loss responsibility a plus.
- Experience working in the commercial vehicle, construction equipment or asset finance industry preferred.
- Knowledge of working through a dealer distribution network a plus.
- Having thorough knowledge or experience of credit underwriting.
- Previous working experience in an international environment preferred.
- A seasoned and mature leader.
- Strong business and financial acumen, results-orientated, building the foundations for long term business success and proven record in achieving business results.
- Ability to understand, assess and manage credit, financial and business risks.
- Understand and manage the regulatory, compliance and internal requirements of the local market.
- Demonstrates courageous managerial effectiveness and integrity. Is target-driven, self-motivated, and willing to take responsibility.
- Strong strategic planning and analytical skills.
- Experienced in creating a high-performance culture and managing a high-performance team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literate in MS Office.
