Volvo Trucks International (VTI) is looking for a driven, entrepreneurial leader to take charge of our truck sales and retail network in East & Southern Africa. It’s an opportunity to own and grow a market, working closely with customers, importers, and business partners across the region to deliver sustainable growth and profitability.


As Market Director, you’ll oversee operations in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Angola. You’ll be responsible for everything from developing market strategies to building relationships with key stakeholders, driving sales, and ensuring the Volvo Trucks brand continues to deliver excellence. This role demands someone who’s not afraid to dig in, develop trust, and work collaboratively to grow our market share while maintaining a deep commitment to our customers and partners. Wha you'll do

In this role, you’ll bring Volvo Trucks’ strategies to life across East & Southern Africa. You’ll work with importers and partners to grow our brand presence, ensuring our products and services meet the highest standards for quality and customer satisfaction. You’ll also have full responsibility for the market’s profit and loss, making key decisions to drive growth and long-term sustainability. This means identifying new opportunities, expanding distribution networks, and continuously working to improve customer relationships and satisfaction.
You’ll act as a coach and mentor, helping our Truck Sales Executive in Johannesburg succeed while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to align on goals and priorities. Most importantly, you’ll build strong, lasting relationships with importers and partners in the region, helping Volvo Trucks become a trusted partner and leader in these markets.
 

What makes you a great fit

You are a self-starter who’s ready to take ownership of a market and grow it. You bring relevant experience in sales, business development, and leadership, with a proven ability to deliver results. Your understanding of the retail and commercial vehicle landscape, combined with your ability to navigate complex socio-economic and cultural contexts, gives you an edge in this role.
You’re collaborative and approachable, with strong communication skills that help you build trust with customers, partners, and teams. You’re also capable of analyzing financial and operational performance to make sound decisions. While technical expertise isn’t your primary focus, your ability to quickly grasp and explain technical aspects of our trucks will set you apart.
