What you will do
Financial Control and Accounting (FCA) is the accounting department within the Volvo Group, responsible for financial compliance in terms of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as well as compliance to local legislation.
We are looking for an experienced and passionate person with particular interest in financial processes and continuous improvement wanting to join our Financial Control & Accounting Team (South EMEA) within the Volvo Group.
Within FCA South EMEA you will be part of a global and diverse team of skilled and high-performing professionals who work with energy, passion and respect towards each other to become the world leader in sustainable transport solutions.
In the role as Transaction Controller, you will build a strong network within both accounting and business control communities. You will be responsible for accurate accounting and reporting of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Fixed Assets. As the Transactional Controller you will also take full responsibility for the Treasury function. You will actively participate in the development and implementation of relevant reporting and accounting processes within FCA.
You will report directly to the Director FCA South Africa with an indirect reporting line to the Chief Accountant.
Job Objectives:
Accounts Payables (P2P) and Accounts Receivable (O2C)
- Responsible for the timely and accurate accounting for the assigned financial line items.
- Timeously prepare and/or review all balance sheet reconciliations (BSR) and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Accuracy and completeness of age analysis and month-end provisions.
- Ensure compliance with the relevant accounting standards.
- Resolve internal and external stakeholder queries.
- Actively track performance targets and take necessary actions to achieve the set goals.
Fixed Assets
- Responsible for the timely and accurate accounting for the assigned financial line items.
- Timeously prepare and/or review all balance sheet reconciliations (BSR) and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Ensuring all fixed asset transactions comply with the relevant accounting standard and the Asset Management Directive.
- Maintain an accurate and complete Fixed Asset register in accordance with the relevant accounting standards.
- Collaborate with the Tax Analyst to maintain an accurate and complete Fixed Asset register in compliance with the Income Tax Act.
- Actively track Assets under Construction (AUC) and take necessary actions.
- Conduct regular asset verifications and resolve discrepancies.
Treasury
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and accurate reporting of financial activities.
- Monitor the company’s liquidity and optimize the use of cash resources.
- Support strategic decision-making through performing cash flow forecasting and analysis.
- Provide financial guidance and analysis to generate positive financial results.
- Liaise with Group Treasury on the Legal Entities Funding and Capital Structure.
- Maintain compliance with the Currency and Exchange Act (i.e., SARB Approvals).
- Maintain compliance with the Travel and Entertainment Policy pertaining to corporate credit cards.
- Primary liaison for third-party stakeholders (i.e. financial institutions, South African Reserve Bank, Stats SA etc.)
General
- Interact and collaborate with stakeholders across Volvo Group to perform duties and resolve queries.
- Monthly feedback to the Director of FCA on the performance targets.
- Support the Chief Accountant with preparing the Annual Financial Statements and resolving audit queries.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, Volvo Financial Policies and Procedures (FPP), Volvo Internal Control Standard (VICS) and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Standardize ways of working by developing and implementing processes and internal controls.
- Work collaboratively with the offshore Accounting Services teams.
- Provide support to other team members as needed.
- Any other duties that may be reasonably requested by your manager.
Qualification & Job Experience
- 4+ years’ experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Sound accounting knowledge and a thorough understanding of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
- Experience presenting and explaining complex information to stakeholders.
- Change management experience.
