Köping, SE, 731 80
Transport is at the core of modern society. Imagine using your expertise to shape sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions for the future. If you seek to make a difference on a global scale, working with next-gen technologies and the sharpest collaborative teams, then we could be a perfect match.
We Are Looking for a Thesis Student!
Are you a motivated student in material engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field?
Do you have an interest in steel microstructure and grain growth phenomena?
We are seeking a dedicated thesis student to investigate the influence of time dependence on grain growth in case hardening steels.
About the Project:
The primary focus of this thesis is to refine the understanding of how prior austenite grain size evolves with time and temperature in one or two steel grades with known manufacturing histories.
Since grain size significantly impacts fatigue strength, this work aims to improve the mapping of grain growth behavior, contributing valuable insights to steel processing and performance.
Your Tasks Will Include:
• Conducting a comprehensive literature study on grain growth and related theories
• Developing and applying grain growth models
• Designing and executing test cases, including measurement of grain size
• Documenting your findings and conclusions
Qualifications:
• Enrolled in a relevant engineering program (material engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar)
• Strong interest in microstructure and materials science
• Analytical skills and attention to detail
We Offer:
• An engaging research environment with experienced supervisors
• Opportunities to develop your technical and analytical skills
• A platform to contribute to industry-relevant research
Application:
Join us in advancing the understanding of grain growth in steels and take a significant step in your engineering career!
Apply not later than November 30th, 2025.
