CNC Machine Operator

Position Summary: Responsible for safely operating CNC machining equipment to produce quality parts that meet production schedules, engineering specifications, and customer requirements. This position performs operations of CNC machining equipment, verifying part quality using appropriate measuring equipment, and notifying Tool Technician of out-of-tolerance parts. The CNC Machine Operator is also responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area while supporting continuous improvement activities related to safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

Core Responsibilities: 
•    Punctuality and daily attendance.
•    Moderate to heavy lifting of parts from and to baskets.
•    Monitor and clean coolant system.
•    Housekeeping of areas other than immediate workstation.
•    Verify quality of parts by using gauges, calipers, etc.
•    Performs other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management to support Volvo Penta goals and objectives.

-    Follow all quality work instructions to ensure adherence to customer specifications.
-    Follow all environmental work instructions to ensure adherence to Volvo requirements and other legal obligations
-    Initiate kaizens and participate in cross-functional kaizens, as needed.

Skills and Knowledge Required: 
•    Ability to read and write
•    Basic computer skills for Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
•    Attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
•    Accountability: Take the lead in getting the job done and accept responsibility for actions, performance, and personal improvements
•    Requires on-the-job training.
•    Must be able to lift heavy parts.

•    Safety shoes
•    Gloves
•    Hearing protection

Education and Experience:  
•    High school graduate or equivalent required
•    Previous CNC machining, machine operation, or manufacturing experience preferred
•    Technical or vocational training in machining, CNC technology, or a related field is beneficial
